Summary: Being totally committed to God

Title: Does God Have You, Now

Text: Psalms 57:7

Intro: The other day I was coming back from hospital visits and passed by where a wreck had happened sometime ago on Double Oak Mountain. Graffiti had been sprayed on the wall and said “God has you now” As I drove I began to ponder this one sentence that God has you now. I wondered if God had the person before the wreck or not? I begin to think that if God has us then it will be seen you cannot hide a life that is daily filled with the power of God.

I. When God Has You He Has Your Worship

ILL. David playing for Saul.

- Satan does not want to be in the presence of worship unto God

- It is how we can overcome temptation

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Gideon was the youngest in his fathers house; and his family was poor But God used him. Judges 6:15

Saul was from the smallest tribe and his family was the smallest of the tribe But God used him. I Samuel 9:21

David was the youngest of Jessie’s house. His father did not see a king, His brothers did not see a king, Samuel did not see a king, But God saw a king.

John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

3. There is work to be done/souls to be won/ demons to overcome/ hope to be restored

4. The church is to be a hospital a place filled with activity, healing for sick, and broken and new births. Not an exclusive club. Not a mortuary surrounded by death.

5. We have a job to do

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

6. We must realize that one day we will answer for our work

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

Matthew 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Matthew 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Matthew 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

7. If God has you your work will be seen

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

III. When God Has You He Has All Of You

1. He has your heart

Psalms 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

- He knows if you are hot, cold or just lukewarm

- He sees the secret places of your heart

Psalms 90:8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

2. He has your desires

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Psalms 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

3. Living with God but not in God

Achan, lived through the wilderness; the crossing of Jordan; the battle of Jericho but God did not have him. He lived with the presence and power of God but never allowed God to possess him.

Conclusion: God will have you either now or later. Now is when He wants you as your loving and forgiving savior; later He will be you judge.

Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Does God have you, every part or did you hold something back?
