Summary: A salvation sermon outlining the need for salvation and God’s plan to supply that need.

CONSIDER THE BLOOD

Isaiah 52:13-15 Text v.15

TEXT: Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high. Just as many were astonished at you, So His vis-age was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men; So shall He sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths at Him; For what had not been told them they shall see, And what they had not heard they shall consider.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 For I received from the Lord that which I also deliv-ered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24. and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 25. In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remem-brance of Me. 26. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

PROPOSITION: To lead the unsaved to salvation and to encourage the believers in the faith.

INTRODUCTION: Isaiah and Paul are both writing concerning God’s revela-tion to them about the crucifixion of Christ. Isaiah was looking forward to the cross, Paul was looking back toward the cross. But both confront us with a very dramatic reality: Christ died on a cross and His death is the central point of all that is real in our world

There are three things that I want you to consider about the crucifixion of Christ:

1. Consider why Christ was crucified.

2. Consider what His crucifixion did for you.

3. Consider what you will do with Christ’s blood.

I. CONSIDER WHY CHRIST’S BLOOD WAS SHED v.24

“and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Christ’s blood was shed and His body broken because ...

A. You and I Were Separated From God With No Way Back

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you.

Christ’s blood was shed and His body broken because ...

B. You Could Do Nothing to Bring Yourself Back to God

Application: If your sins have separated you from God, then if you have no way to get rid of the sin, you have no way to get back to God.

Isaiah 64:6 says: But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags.

Christ’s blood was shed and His body broken because ...

C. God Wanted To Make a Way For You To Be Saved

Romans 8:3,4 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh on account of sin; He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous re-quirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Application: In the heart of every person is a dark stain, the stain of sin. All the hard work and good intentions in the world could not remove it. Only God could do so.

II. CONSIDER WHAT THE SHEDDING CHRIST’S BLOOD DID FOR YOU

Matthew 26:27,28 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Because Christ’s blood was shed ...

A. You Can Be Cleansed From All Your Sin

Isaiah 1:18 Come, now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Naught of good that I have done. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh, precious is the flow That makes me white as snow.

No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Because Christ’s blood was shed ...

B. God Can Give You The Ability To Live A Life Free From The Power Of Sin

Hebrews 8:10,12 For this is the covenant that I will make with them af-ter those days," says the Lord, "I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts: and I will be their God, and they shall be My peo-ple. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness and their sins and in-iquities I will remember no more."

Application: Hebrews chapter 10 is speaking of the atoning work of Christ on the cross - God says after that work is done then I will ...

III. CONSIDER WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

What will you do with Christ’s blood ...

A. Will You Accept It and Be Saved By It?

Application: When Jesus handed the disciples the cup and bread He was confronting them with the necessity for a decision concerning Himself. He was asking them to become participants with Him in the crucifixion -- to give up their lives in order to receive the life He offered:

Romans 6:4-7 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6. knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7. For he who has died has been freed from sin.

Application: God’s whole motivation for Calvary was you. If you will accept what He did there you can know the greatest salvation possible to anyone.

What will you do with Christ’s blood ...

B. Will You Reject It and Be Condemned Because of it?

John 3:17,18 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who be-lieves in Him is not condemned: but he who does not believe is con-demned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.

Hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

CONCLUSION: Our scripture text says: "For what had not been told them they shall see, and what they had not heard they shall consider."
