REVELATION 20:1-15

Today with the world cursed and Satan ruling the world system many feel there is no hope for the future. But the Bible says, Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

This chapter reveals the literal future utopian age of Jesus’ Earthly kingdom. Without question, there is coming a time when this world will be as it was prior to the fall.

There are three things about the coming theocratic kingdom of Jesus Christ we as believers need to understand.

I. THE PREREQUISITES TO THE KINGDOM 20:1-3

A. The Rapture of the Church (Acts 15:14; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 9)

B. The Return of Jesus (19:11)

C. The Removal of Satan (20:1-3)

D. The Renewal of Creation (Romans 8:18-23, Isaiah 11:6-11)

II. THE PROPHECY OF THE KINGDOM 20:4-5 (11:6-11a; 24:21-23; 35:1-2; Acts 15:13-18)

Isaiah 2:2-4a And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people...

The prophecy of the kingdom clearly attests to:

A. The Sovereignty of God (see Rev. 19:16)

Acts 1:6-7 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

B. The Wisdom of God (Genesis 3:17-19 ) Only God could develop a plan such as His!

C. The Faithfulness of God

1. To His people (20:4-5) “Lived and reigned with Christ” (The Davidic covenant with Israel Romans 11:1-36; especially 11:1, 25-29, the tribulation saints Rev. 6:10-11, and New Testament saints 1 Corinthians 6:2 ; 15:23-26- all of His people)

2. To His word (Matthew 26:64; Luke 21:32-36 - the generation of that day)

3. To His creation (Romans 8:18-23)

III. THE PURPOSE FOR THE KINGDOM 20:7-15; Isaiah 26:10

A. To prove that man’s greatest need is not a perfect environment but Jesus.

At the return of Jesus, there will be those who survive the tribulation and will have children during the time of the millennium. Thus, while Jesus will rule with a rod of iron (Revelation 2:26-27; 12:5 ) they will submit outwardly but inward they will rebel and join Satan at the end of the millennium kingdom.

B. To answer the prayers of the saints

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.

C. The declare the authority of Jesus Christ

“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” (Romans 14:11)

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;” (Philippians 2:10)
