Summary: We look at Pharoah and ponder why would he want one more night with the frogs?

ONE MORE NIGHT WITH THE FROGS?

TEXT:

Exodus 8:8 Then Pharoah called for Moses and Aaron and said, Intreat the Lord, that He may take awaythe frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go. That they may do sacrifice unto the Lord.

9. And Moses said unto Pharoah, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and from thy people, to destroy the frogs from thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?

10. And he said: "TOMORROW!" And he said, BE IT ACCORDING TO THY WORD, that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the Lord our God.

Luke 17:32 REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE.

Gen. 19:16 AND WHILE THEY LINGERED...

One more night with the frogs.

This pondering burns within my heart, will you hear?

I have some very serious ponderings to ponder.

I need the Holy Spirit’s guidance to help me write this lesson.

We are in terrible times. Terrorism, finanical instability, and political turmoil around the world, signs of the time are every where.

The enemy is doing his 3 fold purpose:

1. steal,

2. kill,

3. destroy ---

As we sit back and wait for a big super move of God, and as we sit back, many are choosing sin --- claiming to be right, but the Father knows them not. (Mat. 7:23)

There are several rules that must be guarded to walk on heaven’s soil.

WE MUST KEEP THE 10 COMMANDMENTS. They must not be grievous or hard.(John 14:15.)

The other main rule is: WE MUST LOVE THE BRETHREN. (1John 3:13)

We have people breaking the 10 commandments and claiming they are right and OK. This is not true.

Shake yourself, is the power gone?

If we fail to line up with the written word of God, we must repent and convert.

Playing with sin, even little sin can bring disgrace and separation from God. Cut the cord, now!

EMPTY and Dry can be very dangerous.

Ask the 5 foolish virgins? (Read Mat.12:43-46; Luke 11:24-26)

We can go through very dry places and not realize how great a danger we face.

Can we afford to be worse than the first?

Read the Bible verses, am I right?

Many are lingering in darkened corners, they dread the light.

Read Luke 15:8.

The lady with the lost coin cannot find it.

She lights the candle, her sweeping will be ineffective until there is light to expose the dirt.

We need the Holy Spirit to shine in the dark crevices of the inner man and expose sin and every weight that so easily besets us, so we can run with patience this race.

(Heb.12:1) God has a plan and purpose for you!

Dry and empty is not the most effective way for us to continue.

We must yield to the light of the Holy Spirit and repent and convert!

Cut the cord.

Let me define two words.

LINGER: to question, to hesitate, be reluctant, delay.

PROCRASTINATE: slow, slack, defer, loiter.

We often in our work for God linger in the shadows.

The zeal that should be consuming us, has been dampened by everyday menial humdrum activity.

We hear all the negative reports and go in our tents and pout and cry.

We count the things we do not have, never bothering to count God’s multiple blessing on our homes and nations.

No wonder we are dry?

Burnout razes ( to utterly destroy) dry people.

ANSWER THIS QUESTION: COULD DELAY AND PROCRASTINATION BE A SIN? Does the word of God answer this question?

(James 4:17)

Yes, there is a clear answer, if you delay doing what you know you ought to be doing, you walk a very dark road.

Cut the cord, NOW.

I find the most unusual story in Exodus 8.

There is a terrible problem.

Frogs are destroying the land.

Frogs are everywhere: frogs in the bedroom, frogs in the kitchen, frogs inside, frogs outside.

The potential danger of frogs and disease grows great.

Exodus 8:8 The mighty pharaoh is sick and tired of frogs.

Pharaoh called the preacher and asked Moses, PRAY, (INTREAT), God on our behalf.

Please, Preacher, pray that God deliver us from these frogs!

Moses asked Pharaoh in verse 9 --- When shall I intreat God for the frogs to be gone?

I CANNOT UNDERSTAND PHARAOH’S ANSWER.

Please, write me and explain?

Exodus 8:10 Pharaoh exclaims: TO MORROW.

The preacher says: ACCORDING TO THY WORD!---

How many will not accept deliverance or cut the cord?

We seem to want ONE MORE NIGHT WITH FROGS.

Pharaoh will allow all the people of Egypt to suffer one more night?

Why not accept Divine Deliverance today?

My heart breaks, I see God’s people willing to spend ONE MORE NIGHT WITH THE FROGS? Wake up! Cut the cord, NOW.

Why play with sin and the weights one more day?

The enemy sinks his hook in the nose deeper while we wait to deal with and accept deliverance.

How many nights in the pig pen until we arise and wash and return to the Father?

Deliverance from habits is available today!

Deliverance from tempers and hurt is available today!

Healing is available today!

Are you wanting to spend another night in bondage?

Are you questioning the plan of God?

Is there a sparkle in your eye for some earthly allurement?

Where is your desire?

Why would we accept one more night? Cut the cord.

Everyday the cord’s roots embed themselves deeper.

The scars and damage of poor habits cripple and injure.

Why accept more emotional and moral injury.

God’s will is not one more night with the frogs.

Intreat, ask, seek, find! Cut the cord today.

Minimize, reduce the pain. Maximize GOD.

In 1906, a mountain grandmother went to the president of Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. This Granny pleaded with Carl Woodward, the college president to accept her Granddaughter as a student.

Carl said, "The Grandmother said: Hit’s a lot worse to be soul-hungry than to be

body-hungry. --- I agree.

We feed the stomach.

We have the best clothes we have ever had.

We have more toys and trinkets than ever.

But where is the JOY?

Where is the faithfulness?

We are soon approaching a moral bankrupt society.

Today, we need to humble ourselves, repent, and turn.

(2 Chron. 7:14)

We need heaven to hear us, forgive us, and heal our land.

We have to cut the cord.

Honestly consider, can we afford one more night with the frogs?

Lingering and idlely loitering around God’s work does grave damage.

The harvest is plenteous, THE LABOURERS ARE FEW. (Mat.9:36-38)

Much fruit is mature and ripe, tomorrow it will be rotten and the opportunity passed. While we wait for more perfect conditions and better training, souls escape God’s mercy.

Why play another night flirting with sin?

Your potential is great. Will we arise?

Some one is counting on you. I

f not you, then who?

If not here, then where?

If not now, then when?

Could you do a little more?

Could you give a little more?

We are pondering, One more night with the frogs.

We have several weak tendencies as human beings,

we often are proned to become dangerously dry and empty because we procrastinate and delay things.

We must never question in darkness what God says in the light.

God searches for willing, loving givers ---2 Cor. 9:7.

Many times we know, and we forget what we know.(Rom. 8:28)

We must not be slack in God’s work!

As Pharaoh delayeth his deliverance from the frogs (Exodus 8), for one more night, we must not give in to spiritual laziness and idleness.

There are grave consequences for spiritual procrastination.

If the strings to your heart and eyes are tied to this world: the pride of life, lust of the eyes, you will make poor spiritual choices.

Let us consider the second shortest verse in the New Testament.

Luke 17:32 REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE.

Wow, what a powerful message.

We don’t even know her name, but her lesson still applies.

The account of Lot’s wife is a sad statement of facts on LINGERING and playing church.

There is no record of Lot ever building an altar.

He often visited his Uncle Abraham’s altar, but there are no records of Lot spending much time at any altar.

Abraham is known as "Father of the Faithful," not so for Lot.

Let’s do as the Bible verse suggest and remember Lot’s wife.

Her end was a result of the sum total of many poor choices!

First, let’s consider there was more than looking back!

There was a sparkle in her eye for something back in Sodom.

Did she look back for material things?

Maybe she looked back thinking of some physical relationship.

There was much more that the act of looking back!

There were many hidden things in the dark crevices of her heart.

Desire was tying her heart to something "back there."

She sold out for a "look back", but it was an accumulation of her poor choices for many years.

The messengers of God had clearly warned Lot, his wife, and two daughters ---

FLEE form sin, FLEE from this place.

Abraham had interceded on Lot and Sodom’s behalf.

Read these sad words as we remember Lot’s wife!

Gen. 19:16 AND WHILE THEY LINGERED...

why did they override the move of God?

Maybe Lot questioned the validity of the messengers of God?

Maybe their poor choices of many years had blinded their eyes?

Maybe they doubted God’s judgment?

Maybe they wanted one more night with the frogs?

I don’t know, but something made the whole family linger.

Maybe Lot was a "lingering example" to his children?

Maybe Lot had something to do with this LINGERING SPIRIT?

Maybe Lot was a poor priest of his home? Cut the cord.

While we remember, consider where Lot was ordered to go?

Gen. 19:17 Escape for your life, neither look back, (clear imperative command), and escape to the mountain.

Many times, to rise above where we have been, we exert great effort.

Go upward, this is usually a gradual, continuous progressive effort.

We should grow.

Lot had many excuses to tarry, but note: he also had many excuses to not pull himself and his little family up. Lot wanted to sell out again, HOW ABOUT THE PLAIN, LORD? THE LEVEL ROAD WILL BE EASIER.

There are less obstacles on the plain than climbing the mountain.

God calls his children to climb upward!

You can do it! If you want to do it? Cut the cord.

Gen. 19:20 Lot pushes for the easy level road.

What will the price tag be?

Lot begs, the permissive will of God, let us go to Zoar.

Did you read the Bible?

Zoar means LITTLE!

Lot was ready to settle for little things.

Little things don’t cost much effort?

Easy is not best!

What looks good is not always what God has planned!

Cut the cord.

While we remember Lot’s wife, and their trip not to the mountain, but to Zoar, the place of little things, remember this.

Gen. 19:30 After Lot got to Zoar, he was not satisfied!

He was afraid! He demanded his way.

Lot got his way, but he was far from what God had planned and fear was a by-product of his poor choice.

Now, Lot’s wife is razed, (utterly destroyed), Lot is living in fear. REMEMBER,

Whereare you Lor? WHERE LOT IS AT--- HE IS A PRODUCT OF HIS OWN LINGERING AND DELAY. HE SOLD GOD’S PLAN, TO LIVE BENEATH HIS PRIVILEGE.

This cave man mentality will end with him fathering his grandchildren.

Permissive Will vs. Divine Will? Cut the cord.

This lingering spirit goes back for many years.

Gen. 13:12 Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom.

Wow, Lot --- could you not see the product of your poor choices?

Everything started with Lot’s uncontrolled eyes and a deep yearning in his heart.

Before Lot told his uncle his choice, he displayed the heart was tied to the well watered plain and he had little respect for his old uncle. Cut the cord.

Read the sad story of 11 Sam. 11:1 At a time when Kings go to battle David chose to delay and linger in his comfortable palace.

While there, he watched his neighbor woman take a bath.

Pretty innocent?

No, the trail of tears from that bath tub reach into eternity.

David will buy a baby coffin.

David’s son will rape his daughter.

David’s son will kill him to revenge his sister’s rape.

Absalom will hang dead in the forks of a tree.

David will cry bitter tears for two reasons. He lost his handsome son, and this event will remind David, he was not where he was supposed to be.

Remember?

God needs you to deal with the sin and weights, and be set free.

Break the bounds. Don’t look back.

Control that sparkle in your eyes, FLEE SIN. (1 Cor.6:18)

Can you afford to flirt with the enemy? Can we afford to linger?

It is time to move in God.

Burn the bridges.

Don’t linger! Don’t look back.

There are to many miles behind us, to many rivers our feet have walked through, to many sunsets lie behind the mountains, there is too much to gain to lose.
