Summary: Third in the series on Worship. No other true God exist.

ONLY HE IS WORTHY OF OUR WORSHIP

Isa 45:18-19

A man walked over to the perfume counter and told the clerk he’d like a bottle of Chanel #5 for his wife for their anniversary. "A little surprise, eh?" smiled the clerk. "You bet," answered the customer. "She’s expecting a cruise."

Surprises can be good or bad. One thing that shouldn’t surprise us but usually does is how fulfilling and important worshipping God is. On one major search engine I found over 50,000 categories on the topic of faith and religion. Many of them present an unbiblical form of worship.

People are searching, searching for something to fill that void. In a recent Reader’s Digest article John McEnroe tells of his search for fulfillment. He was the number one tennis player in the world. He made millions of dollars every year. Anything he wanted was at his fingertips. And yet he says “I was angry and empty.”

Today I want to introduce you to the only One who can fill the void and emptiness in your soul. He is the Great I Am.

I. GOD OF HEAVEN IS THE ONLY CREATOR.

A) When I say that realize I speak of the trinity. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

B) He created the world---Power

C) He created the people—love—Vs. 18

D) He gives us the opportunity to worship. Psalms 102:18

1) We are to worship the creator not the creation. Romans 1:25 says “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

2) Let me share with you some of the nonsense that is out there:

“The groves were God’s first temples.” William Cullen Bryant A Forest Hymn

“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.” Hermann Hesse Wandering

Approaching a tree we approach a sacred being who can teach us about love and about endless giving. S/he is one of millions of beings who provide our air, our homes, our fuel, our books. Working with the spirit of the tree can bring us renewed energy, powerful inspiration, deep communion. Druid Tree Lore and the Ogham - from the teaching material of the Ovate Grade

II. GOD OF HEAVEN HAS THE ONLY TRUE PATH. Vs 18c

A) The Path of the Feather as a teaching, is about becoming a contemporary shaman by seeing and hearing the voices of the living earth. It is about finding out who you are by making medicine wheels and listening to the voices of the spirit animals and ancient ones. It is about you living your ordinary life as your vision quest, as your shamanic journey. It is about you becoming one who sees and one who heals the earth within. ---http://www.pathofthefeather.com/

B) The term path is becoming more and more common today. It is a term that is used in the pagan spiritualistic world of finding one’s way to happiness, fulfillment, and the after life.

C) He is the LORD and there are no others—no other true gods. I Cor 8:4-6

1. He has not made the true path a secret. Vs. 19

2. When we seek Him we do not do it in vain.

3. The Lord speaks and reveals the truth—the true way.

Concl: Please close your eyes and try to imagine the world without form..just darkness. God speaks and brings forth light. Then He forms the earth and the waters, adds animals, trees, and vegetation. Then in a great act of love He creates human life. Everything is perfect. Then man sins. Death and corruption begins. Justice demands that we die physically and spiritually because we have corrupted the perfect world that He created and we broke the perfect relationship He intended for us. But God does not give up on us. He sends his Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins. In our place, He is beaten and crucified. He makes an offer. Accept my Son’s redemptive act and forgiveness and you can be assured of eternal life. When we have done that He then calls us to be active in worshipping Him. It is what He deserves. He is the only true God. He has the only true answer to the void that fills the heart of the unbeliever. He is the only way to escape the punishment of hell. But He calls us to worship also because it brings us to a place of intimacy with Him, our creator, our redeemer, our Father.
