Summary: A Sermon for the observance of the Lord’s Supper.

“This Do In Rememberance of Me”

Luke 22:14-20 Text: Luke 22:19

Recorded here are the last hours of our Lord here on earth, and we are given the privilege of sharing in one of the most intimate moments that He spent with His disciples. Gone are the crowds thronging Him, seeking the physical and material things of the world. No others have been invited to partake of this special moment, just the twelve.

History of the passover – preparation and participants –

I take from our text today three main headings:

I. What are we to Remember?

A. We Remember His Life

1. Lived in obedience to the will of His Father

2. Lived in accordance to the fulfillment of the Scriptures

B. We Remember His Death

1. He is not only the Good Shepherd of the Sheep, but also the Lamb of God slain for our sins – Matt. 26:30-32

2. He is not only the Great High Priest offering the sacrifice but also the Only Perfect Sacrifice for our sins – Heb. 9:11-12

C. We Remember His Burial & Resurrection – I Cor. 15:1-4

II. Why are we to Remember? (I have only one reason:)

A. Because we are commanded to do so – Luke 22:19

This observance has been carried out from the days of the apostles

III. How are we to Remember?

A. In Reverence – Just as seriously as the Jews took the Passover

I Cor. 11:27

B. In Retrospection - I Cor. 11:28

C. In Recognition of His Soon Return – I Cor. 11:26
