Summary: There have been alot of famous people throughout the history of mankind but, Jesus Christ is the true "Famous One".

The Famous One 10-20-02

Mark 1:21-28

21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

(KJV)

INTO: We have here Jesus starting out his ministry of preaching to the people the message that is still relevant for today,

Mark 1:15

15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

(KJV)

This message is indeed needed today just as much as it has ever been because today there are....

• over 20 major religions in the world.

• Many believers are budhists, hindues, musslims and ect.

Today there are those who are worshipping the sun, moon, stars, trees, plants, animals, all of creation, but not the creator.

There are those looking to and worshiping other men and false gods.

These people are people are believing in something or someone but they are not believing upon the famous one.

As you read along in the book of Mark you find Jesus calling out ordinary men to follow him, and then we come to our text today, were we find Jesus teaching in the synagogue and while he is there he does the miraculous causing the evil spirits to obey him. (KJV)

[Therefore if any man be in Christ] The phrase to "be in Christ," evidently means to be united to Christ by faith; or to be in him as the branch is in the vine-- that is, so united to the vine, or so in it, as to derive all its nourishment and support from it, and to be sustained entirely by it. , "every branch in me." , "abide in me, and I in you." "The branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine; no more can ye except ye abide in me." See also ,
