Summary: How can you say, "I can’t do it", when God is with you?

" Yes You Can " 1-21-01

Num 23:19

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

(KJV)

there are many scriptures that tell us that we can trust in God’s word...

Ps 12:6

6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

(KJV)

Ps 119:160

160 Thy word is true from the beginning:

(KJV)

Ezek 12:25

25 For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.

(KJV)

It is very plan and simple, when God speaks it or commands it, it will happen.

hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Ex. ch. 3 begins...

Moses leading sheep backside of wilderness

Angle of the Lord appears in burning bush

Moses sees this, notices not consumed

Stops to turn aside to see this great sight

God notices this he speaks to Moses saying,...

Exod 3:5-10

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

(KJV)

Moses has received his call from God... To deliver TCI out of Egypt.

However he does not accept this call w/ enthusiasm, or even graciously

in fact he gives God 5 reasons or excuses

Moses’s excuses, God’s Answers

1. No Ability...

Exod 3:11

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

(KJV)

Here Moses is counting himself as being unworthy and not equal to the task.

He thinks God wants courage when he is actually asking for faith,...skill---obedience.

can you imagine receive this kind of call! Here you are in the middle of the desert, minding your own business, watching over some sheep, you see a burning bush that isn’t being consumed, and out of this bush a voice comes forth telling you that you are going to bring forth a whole nationality of people. What would be going through your mind? (EXCUSES)

God’s Answer:

3:12 I will be with thee

When we Say...

1. No Ability

God’s word says...

Phil 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

(KJV)

One characteristic that I like about God is that HE KNOWS WHAT HE WILL DO.

John 6:6

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

(KJV)

(Story of 5,000 fed)

Here Jesus has crossed the sea of Galilee and a great company has followed him

because the have seen the miracles that he did to those who were diseased.

And Jesus went up into a mountain with his disciples and lifted up his eyes and saw this great multitude and asked " whence shall we buy bread that these may eat?"

And Philip answered saying" 200 pennyworth is not enough for them to eat."

Andrew comes forth say that there is a lad here with 5 loaves and 2 fishes.

And it is replied, but what are they among so many?

1. Here the disciples were visibly moved by the monumental task.

"Shall we go buy 200 pennyworth of Bread?"

B. They didn’t quite grasp what he said, He said "YOU GIVE IT TO THEM"--(In Mark)

"YOU DO IT".

1. This was a real-life lesson on "WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING".

BUT, When I command something to be done, IT CAN BE DONE!!!!

God knows that we are powerless, but what he wants is for us to get what we have into his hand. So that he can work, and prove himself.

Matt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is

impossible; but with God all things are possible. (KJV)

2. We’re all caught up in checking out our resources to see if the

command is do-able...........but we must remember====

Zech 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word

of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by

power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. (KJV)

2. No Message

Exod 3:13

what shall I say unto them?

(KJV)

God’s Answer:

Exod 3:16(to the elders)

I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:

(KJV)

Exod 3:18

and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel , unto the King of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, ...

(KJV)

God tells Moses: you tell them that I AM THAT I AM sent you. He gives his name to Moses for him to use. So God is say go before them and tell them that He who spake and the world was, sent me. He who exist, He that is Eternal it is he that I have heard from. And they will follow you.

When we say...

2. No Message

1 Cor 15:3-4

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

(KJV)

We are to preach the death and resurrection of Christ.

Mark 16:15

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

How can we say that today we have no message? Nothing to say?

People all around us that need to here the Gospel of Jesus Christ.....

That God so loved the world.....

Children that need to now that someone does care....

It is very evident to me what message we are to give.

3. No Authority

But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice:

(KJV)

God’s Answer:

Exod 4:2

2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

(KJV)

Rod into a serpent before Moses very eyes. Moses flees from it in fear that it may harm his life. But God tells him to "take it by the tail". Moses does this. and this is what I see...

Moses was afraid of the serpent just as he was afraid of the call God just gave.

but when God spoke to him to pick up the serpent he did so with out be harmed. So just as God spoke to him to take up the serpent he is showing him that he can also take on the call to deliver TCI. I see here the serpent representing the power of Pharaoh and a man with the call of God over comes that which does not seem possible.

When we say...

3. No Authority

Matt 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

(KJV)

Again I can refer back to Phil. 4:13... Whatever God wants you to do he will not leave you nor forsake you. But he will be right there in the midst of that that you are doing, strengthening you to do inspirering you to do making you capable to do. Without Him we can do nothing but with Him we can do all things. Without Him we are nothing, but with Him we a made the children of God. What more authority do we need than the authority we have in the NAME of JESUS CHRIST the SON of GOD.

4. No Eloquence/ Not a man of words

Exod 4:10

10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

(KJV)

God’s Answer:

Exod 4:14-15

14 Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well.

15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

(KJV)

Here Moses is using his lack of speech as an excuse to get out from this call of God. But God who knows all and sees all and provides all the people need to carry out his will say, Isn’t Aaron your brother, I know he speaks well. God has now graciously given Aaron his brother to him as a mouth piece for Moses again overcoming what Moses saw as a reason why he is not the man for the job.

5. No Inclination/No mind for this work

Exod 4:13

13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

(KJV) ( You can surely find someone else more fit for the job)

God’s Answer:

15 and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

When we say...

4,5. No Eloquence, No Inclination

Phil 2:13

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Just as God told Moses that he will be with him, God will be and is with us. God has made a promise to us and it is the same promise that he gave the disciples...

Acts 1:8

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

(KJV)

God has given us the promise of the Holy Ghost. And this power is and endument of power for ministry. It enables us to know what God is wanting said and done. And not only that there are many gifts of the spirit which Paul writes about in 1Cor. ch.12.

How can we say I am not able? You’re write, You’re not able but Christ is.

And all we have to do is keep our eyes upon Him, seek Him and He will lead us into what he wants to do through us. When God speaks to you about working for him he is simply asking for your obedience to his will, and to have faith in Him, to trust in Him and the power of His might.

He said that he would be with us

Dwell in us

This is His church, His Ministry, His word: all we have to do is follow Him.

Jesus said to Simon and Andrew "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Closing

That’s what I find him saying tonight, Follow me, trust in me, I know that you are not able but I am able. I want to work in you and through you. With man nothing is possible but not God,

for with God all things are possible.
