Summary: Satan is in the business of fakery. He offers a false peace; a false hope; a false joy...and a false "spiritual rock" to the unbelieving world.

SATAN’S "PAPER-MACHE" DECEPTION

"For their rock is not like our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges." Deuteronomy 32:31.

Satan is in the business of fakery. He offers a false peace; a false hope; a false joy; …and a false "spiritual rock" as Moses depicted in our text.

I. THEIR ROCK IS NO ROCK AT ALL!

"But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rains descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." Matthew 7:26-27.

Satan’s false "rock" can provide no more safety or security for the soul of man then the paper-mache piñatas can protect the candies and trinkets contained inside them when struck by little children in their birthday parties.

II. OUR GOD IS THE ONLY TRUE ROCK!

"For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?" II Samuel 22:32.

III. OUR ROCK IS THE ROCK OF OUR SALVATION!

"…Then he [Israel] forsook God who made him, and scorned the Rock of his salvation." Deuteronomy 32:15b.

"Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation." Psalm 95:1.

IV. OUR ROCK IS THE ROCK OF LIVING WATER!

"And the Lord said to Moses…’Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." Exodus 17: 5a, 6.

"All [Israel] ate the same spiritual food, and all drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ." I Corinthians 10:3-4.

V. OUR ROCK IS THE ROCK OF OUR REFUGE!

"For you [Israel] have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not remembered the Rock of your refuge…" Isaiah 17:10.

"Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:1-2.

"In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Psalm 62:7.

TODAY, IS YOUR HOPE FIRMLY PLANTED IN THE ROCK OF AGES?
