1—This sanctuary we dedicate to God’s

COVENANT(:1-9)

—Explanation/Argumentation/Illustration:(:1-9)

:1—“Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel & all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the city of David, which is Zion.

:3—“Then all the elders of Israel came, & the priests took up the ark. :4 And they brought up the ark of the LORD & the tent of meeting & all the holy utensils, which were in the tent, & the priests & the Levites brought them up.”

CALLED MEN

Elders & Deacons

:5—“And King Solomon & all the congregation of Israel, who were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep & oxen they could not be counted or numbered.

SACRIFICE

BLOOD

SIN

Jn. 1:29,36—“The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, & said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”....“& he looked upon Jesus as He walked, & said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

:6—“Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubim. :7 For the cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark, & the cherubim made a covering over the ark & its poles from above.

:8 But the poles were so long that the ends of the poles could be seen from the holy place before the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen outside; they are there to this day.

:9 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.”

COVENANT—Agreement

—New Covenant

Jer. 31:31-34—““Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel & with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them, “declares the LORD. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them, & on their heart I will write it; & I will be their God, & they shall be My people. “And they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor & each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the LORD, “for I will forgive their iniquity, & their sin I will remember no more.””

Heb. 9:22—“And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, & without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

Lk. 22:19-20—“And when He had taken some bread & given thanks, He broke it, & gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.”

2Cor. 3:6—“who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

PRESENCE/Glory(:10-11; 12-13)

—Explanation/Argumentation/Illustration:(:10-11; 12-13) Experience

:10—“And it came about when the priests came from the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,

Visible manifestation of God’s transcendency. His glory which is unapprochable by sinful mankind. this same tenscendeny can be experienced here in worship. It is what drives true worshipers of God to our knees.

:11—“so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.

In ovewhelming awesomeness & felt presence of God, our ministries are transformed into God’s ministries.

Setting aside self.

:12—“Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud.

Unapproachable perfection.

:13—“I have surely built Thee a lofty house, A place for Thy dwelling forever.””

According to God’s plan, yet never meant to contain Him but to reveal Him.

Therein we receive God’s vision & “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”—Prov. 29:18

Anointed—Jesus(:14-21)

Explanation/Argumentation/Illustration:(:14-21) King/Living Posterity

:20—“Now the LORD has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in place of my father David & sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, & have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.”

:21—“And there I have set a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD, which He made with our fathers when He brought them from the land of Egypt.”

Col. 2:3, 8-15—READ—Emphasizing “Him”—

Deut. 18:18—“‘I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, & I will put My words in his mouth, & he shall speak to them all that I command him.”—Jesus

Jn. 1:45—“Philip found Nathanael & said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law & also the Prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.””

Lk. 3:21-22—“Now it came about when all the people were baptized, that Jesus also was baptized, & while He was praying, heaven was opened, & the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, & a voice came out of heaven, “Thou art My beloved Son, in Thee I am well-pleased.””

UNIQUENESS(:22-28)

—Explanation/Illustration:(:22-28) Narrowness

:22—“Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel & spread out his hands toward heaven.”

:23—“And he said, “O LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like Thee in heaven above or on earth beneath, who art keeping covenant & showing lovingkindness to Thy servants who walk before Thee with all their heart,”

God of the Bible is different from Muslim, Mormon, JW or Jewish God!

:24—“who hast kept with Thy servant, my father David, that which Thou hast promised him; indeed, Thou hast spoken with Thy mouth & hast fulfilled it with Thy hand as it is this day.”

:25—“Now therefore, O LORD, the God of Israel, keep with Thy servant David my father that which Thou hast promised him, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your sons take heed to their way to walk before Me as you have walked.’”

:26—“Now therefore, O God of Israel, let Thy word, I pray Thee, be confirmed which Thou hast spoken to Thy servant, my father David.”

:27—“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven & the highest heaven cannot contain Thee, how much less this house which I have built!”

All creation is His

:28—“Yet have regard to the prayer of Thy servant & to his supplication, O LORD my God, to listen to the cry & to the prayer which Thy servant prays before Thee today;”

Personal & concerned w/your welfare/well-being.

—Argumentation:

Mat. 7:13-14—“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, & the way is broad that leads to destruction, & many are those who enter by it. “For the gate is small, & the way is narrow that leads to life, & few are those who find it.”

Acts 3:16—“And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see & know; & the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.”

Acts 4:12—“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.””

GRACE(:28-30)

—Explanation/Illustration:(:28-30)

:28—“Yet have regard to the prayer of Thy servant & to his supplication, O LORD my God, to listen to the cry & to the prayer which Thy servant prays before Thee today;

“Yet”—Despite your awesome majest transcendence

“Regard”—

Lk. 1:46-49—“And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. “For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave; For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed. “For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is His name.”

:29—“that Thine eyes may be open toward this house night & day, toward the place of which Thou hast said, ‘My name shall be there,’ to listen to the prayer which Thy servant shall pray toward this place.

House has been relocated to individual Christian!

:30—“And listen to the supplication of Thy servant & of Thy people Israel, when they pray toward this place; hear Thou in heaven Thy dwelling place; hear & forgive.”

“Forgive”—Look beyond a fault—Forgetting infringement

—Argumentation:

Eph. 2:1-9—“And you were dead in your trespasses & sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh & of the mind, & were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), & raised us up with Him, & seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; & that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.”

1Pet. 1:13—“Therefore, gird your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

—Explanation/Argumentation/Illustration:(:31-53)

:31-32

:31—“If a man sins against his neighbor & is made to take an oath, & he comes & takes an oath before Thine altar in this house,”

“If a man sins against his neighbor “—

:32—“then hear Thou in heaven & act & judge Thy servants, condemning the wicked by bringing his way on his own head & justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.”

“Condemning the wicked”

“Justifying the righteous”—

:33-34

:33—“When Thy people Israel are defeated before an enemy, because they have sinned against Thee, if they turn to Thee again & confess Thy name & pray & make supplication to Thee in this house,

“Defeated”—

“because they have sinned against Thee”—

“If they turn to Thee again”—

:35-36

:35—“When the heavens are shut up & there is no rain, because they have sinned against Thee, & they pray toward this place & confess Thy name & turn from their sin when Thou dost afflict them,”

:37-40

:37—“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or grasshopper, if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,”—AIDS,SARS...

:38—“whatever prayer or supplication is made by any man or by all Thy people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart, & spreading his hands toward this house;”

:39—“then hear Thou in heaven Thy dwelling place, & forgive & act & render to each according to all his ways, whose heart Thou knowest, for Thou alone dost know the hearts of all the sons of men,”

:40—“that they may fear Thee all the days that they live in the land which Thou hast given to our fathers.”

:41-43

:41 “Also concerning the foreigner who is not of Thy people Israel, when he comes from a far country for Thy name’s sake”

:42—“(for they will hear of Thy great name & Thy mighty hand, & of Thine outstretched arm); when he comes & prays toward this house,”

:43—“hear Thou in heaven Thy dwelling place, & do according to all for which the foreigner calls to Thee, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know Thy name, to fear Thee, as do Thy people Israel, & that they may know that this house which I have built is called by Thy name.”

:44-45

:44—“When Thy people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way Thou shalt send them, & they pray to the LORD toward the city which Thou hast chosen & the house which I have built for Thy name,

:45—“then hear in heaven their prayer & their supplication, & maintain their cause.”

:46-53

:46—“When they sin against Thee (for there is no man who does not sin) & Thou art angry with them & dost deliver them to an enemy, so that they take them away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near;”

:47—“if they take thought in the land where they have been taken captive, & repent & make supplication to Thee in the land of those who have taken them captive, saying, ‘We have sinned & have committed iniquity, we have acted wickedly’;”

:48—“if they return to Thee with all their heart & with all their soul in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, & pray to Thee toward their land which Thou hast given to their fathers, the city which Thou hast chosen, & the house which I have built for Thy name;”

:49—“then hear their prayer & their supplication in heaven Thy dwelling place, & maintain their cause,

:50—“& forgive Thy people who have sinned against Thee & all their transgressions which they have transgressed against Thee, & make them objects of compassion before those who have taken them captive, that they may have compassion on them”

:51—“(for they are Thy people & Thine inheritance which Thou hast brought forth from Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace),”

:52—“that Thine eyes may be open to the supplication of Thy servant & to the supplication of Thy people Israel, to listen to them whenever they call to Thee.”

:53—“For Thou hast separated them from all the peoples of the earth as Thine inheritance, as Thou didst speak through Moses Thy servant, when Thou didst bring our fathers forth from Egypt, O Lord GOD.””
