Summary: This is a study of the seven pieces of furniture of the tabernacle.

The Brazen Laver

Central Truth: Jesus is our sanctification

Scripture: EXO 30:18 "You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. And you shall put water in it,

19 "for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it.

20 "When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD, they shall wash with water, lest they die.

21 "So they shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die. And it shall be a statute forever to them - to him and his descendants throughout their generations."

Lesson points:

1. The brazen laver is located in the outer court between the brazen altar and the door of the

tabernacle proper. The outer court is where we first encounter God. The laver is the place

where fellowship is established. Teachers note ( explain the difference in our relationship

with God and our fellowship with Him.

2. The brazen altar has no dimensions. This shows the unending grace and provision of God

in cleansing the believer of his daily sins.

3. The laver was made of brass that came from the ladies looking glasses (mirror) EXO 38:8

He made the laver of bronze and its base of bronze, from the bronze mirrors of the serving

women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

How do we use mirrors

A. To look our natural beauty or defilement.

B. To take physical inventory

C. To help adorn ourselves

D. To reveal to ourselves what we are by nature and what we can be by cleansing ourselves.

4. Brass speaks of sin and the judgement of sin. Feet speaks of the believers walk with God.

Hands speak of the believers service to God.

5. The laver shows the cleansing of the word in the believers daily life.

EPH 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself

for it,

26 That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any

such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.

6. This prepares us for fellowship.

1JO 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have

fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus

Christ.

4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light

and in Him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not

practice the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another,

and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us

from all unrighteousness.

7. the truth that the laver teaches is sanctification.
