Summary: It is time to get out of the rat race and backe to God.

Put Life on Pause

PSLAMS 46:1-11

1 God the Refuge of His People. God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

3 Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

6 The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted.

7 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has wrought desolations in the earth.

9 He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire.

10 "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold.

10 "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

The King James Version says, “Be still and know that I am God.” This may be the very reason we do not know God as we use to. We are in to big of a hurry. We hurry to work, we hurry home, we hurry to school to watch a ball game, a play anything. We are a country in a hurry and when we get to where we wanted to go we are in a hurry to go some place else. “Be still and know that I am God!” We now go through life and work worrying about every thing. We worry if we will make any money then we worry that some one will take it from us. This is not any thing new as we will see as we look at these verses.

The parable of the sower of seeds

LUKE 8:14

14 "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

Even those that served the Lord got caught up in this.

LUKE 10:4042

40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me."

41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;

42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

The Lord speaks of this.

Luke 14:16 24

16 But He said to him, "A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many;

17 and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, "Come; for everything is ready now.’

18 "But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, "I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused.’

19 "Another one said, "I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’

20 "Another one said, "I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’

21 "And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, "Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’

22 "And the slave said, "Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’

23 "And the master said to the slave, "Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.

24 "For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner."’

The Lord tells us to be on our guard.

LUKE 21:34 36

34 "Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; 35 for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth.

36 "But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."

The Lord tells us how to avoid it.

MATTTIEW 6:24 34

24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

The Cure for Anxiety

25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

26 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

27 "And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

28 "And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,

29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

30 "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

31 "Do not worry then, saying, "What will we eat?’ or "What will we drink?’ or "What will we wear for clothing?’

32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34 "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself Each day has enough trouble of its own.

MATTHEW 16:26

26 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Lastly form the Old Testament.

PSLAMS 127:1 2

1 Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

PLAN OF SALVATION

ROMANS 10:17

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

HEBREWS 11:6

6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

ACTS 2:38

38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

ROMANS 10:9 10

9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

MARK 16:16

16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

MATTHEW 7:21

21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
