Summary: This is #5 in a five part series on the "no’s or excuses" of Moses.

Moses, Moses

Part V

¡§DIRECTION AND INSTRUCTION = GUIDANCE¡¨

Introduction:

On July 27th, I shared my vision for North Thurston Life Center. I spoke about Moses and the burning bush. And many of you were touched by the awesome power of God¡¦s Holy Spirit.

I spoke about the vision God has given me of a ministry of people helping each other ¡§Hand to hand¡¨ in their Christian walk as we all strive to achieve a likeness of Christ.

There were four promises that God made to Moses. One for each of Moses¡¦ denials to do what God had asked him to do.

„« The promise of HIS PRESENCE (Exodus 3:12)

¡§And God said, ¡§I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.¡¨

„« The promise of HIS MANIFESTATIONS (Exodus 4:2-9)

„« The promise of HIS ENABLEMENT (Exodus 4:11,12)

The LORD said to him, ¡§Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.¡¨

„« The promise of HIS DIRECTION AND INSTRUCTION (Exodus 4:14-16)

Then the LORD¡¦S anger burned against Moses and he said, ¡§What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you. 15You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 16He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him.

Exodus 4:14-16

This morning I want to speak to you about the fourth promise given by God to Moses. The promise that He will give you guidance!

I. HE WILL GUIDE YOU ON YOUR WALK WITH HIM

A. His Leading (Psalm 23)

B. His Name (Psalm 31:1-3)

C. His Protection

In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. 2Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge,

a strong fortress to save me. 3Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

Psalm 31:1-3

II. HE WILL GUIDE AND TEACH YOU IN TIME OF DECISION

A. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.

Psalm 25:9

B. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5

C. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

III. HE WILL GUIDE YOU WITH HIS STILL SMALL VOICE

A. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ¡§This is the way; walk in it. Isaiah 30:21

B. But Samuel replied: ¡§Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? 1 Samuel 15:22

C. Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ¡§Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?¡¨ And I said, ¡§Here am I. Send me!¡¨ Isaiah 6:8

IV. HE WILL GUIDE YOU IN TIME OF UNCERTAINTY

A. I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16

B. This is what the LORD says¡X your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ¡§I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. 18If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Isaiah 48:17

V. HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH

A. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. John 16:13

B. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. John 16:15

VI. HE WILL GUIDE US TO THE VERY END

A. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. Psalm 48:14

B. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.

Psalm 73:24

CONCLUSION:

Jesus said He would never leave us or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5) We have seen over the last four Sundays how God desires to intervene in our lives if we will let Him.

He wants us to know that His presence will go with us.

He wants us to know that if we are faithful to His direction we will see manifestations of His glory.

He wants us to know that He will teach us along the way.

And He wants us to know that He will be our guide forever.
