Ex. 3:5-10

As a result of our very passive approach to holiness and right living in the body of Christ, Christians have mastered the art of making excuses. Then when we don’t have and internal excuse that will excuse our action, that are blatantly against the word of God, we then turn to outside sources. But allow me to say that when you and I stand in the presents of God there will be no acceptable excuse for why we did not become everything that God called us to be.

Webster defines and excuse as 1 a: to make apology for b: to try to remove blame from 2 : to forgive entirely or disregard as of trivial import : regard as excusable 3 a : to grant exemption or release to b : to allow to leave 4 : to serve as excuse for

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

This is a verse that every saint of God has to get into there spirit. When we yield our members to be use of God it becomes God working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. The message bible says it is God’s energy, energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.

One of the things that I hear many Christians say is that they want to please God. But, many times the thing that will give God the most pleasure in your life is the thing that you desire to do the least. And the thing that we have to remember is that our excuses are not going to change God’s point of view. If God is going to have any pleasure out of your life it will come only from you doing what he created you to do. (Purpose)

So because this is true, listen to what the Apostle Paul tells us next.

[Philippians 2:14 KJV] Do all things without murmurings and disputing:

[Philippians 2:14 MSG] Do everything readily and cheerfully--no bickering, no second-guessing allowed!

As we get farther into the story of Moses we will see that this was and area that the Children of Israel really had a problem in. Many people in the body of Christ today would be so much farther along if they would not spend so much time trying to second-guess the leaders that God has place in there life to lead and guide they.

I was speaking with Bishop Jerry Grillo just on this week. One of the words of wisdom that he gave me was this.

“If you can’t be corrected you can’t be connected.”

The children of Israel were not allowed to inter the Promise Land because they never took on the spirit of the Leader. You can’t follow a leader in to the blessed place if you’re not willing to receive the correction of the leader just as you would there blessings.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to be blind followers, but the bible is very clear on this issue.

[2 Chronicles 20:20 KJV]… Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

I know that many will not believe this and will try to make amendments to the word of God. But you’re established or given foundation in life by believing in God, but if you’re going to be a Christian and be successful your prosperity comes from being able to follow a leader without murmuring, deputing and second-guessing.

Now if this is you, you’re in good company, before God could use Moses as a leader and a deliver, He had to deal with Moses’ excuses.

Now to close this lesson I want to look at two important things that God has to find in a leader.

Exo 3:7-10

Before I go any farther, allow me to stop right hear and say that despite everything that is going on in the world, no matter what evil you may have seen in your on live, the God that we serve is a God of compassion. Many times people and even we that name the name of Christ are pulled by the enemy into thinking that God does not care. The reason that this happens is because we done understand two important factors about God, his timing and His process.

[Exodus 3:7] God explains that he has heard and seen the affliction of his people.

[Exodus 3:8] God plains to do something about what He has seen and heard.

[Exodus 3:9] God explains that he has seen the oppression of His people

Now let us look at the process of God. In Exodus 3: 7-9 God does his part. I want to give you a key for your life, that if you remember it you want waste so much time doing nothing, when it is really a time that we ought to be doing something. God’s part in every problem in the earth at this point and time is just to hear and see. If there is a problem in the world are in your life, it will not be God working it out.

“Pastor, Wilson what do you mean it want be God working out the problem?”

I know that this is going to blow away many of the religious teachings that we have receive and taught over the years. We have been setting back for to long as the people of God wanting God to just do everything for us. God has shown me he is not going to do for us what we can do for ourselves. And even what you can’t do, what you don’t have the power, what you don’t have the knowledge, what you don’t have the understanding, God is not going to do that for us either.

*{ready together} Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

The will of God in the earth is going to be worked out by God working through us. Stop praying and asking God to change your situation and ask God to change the way that you view your problem. Many times the problem is not the problem. The real problem is that we fail to see that if the problem is going to be worked out is going to be worked out by us allowing ourselves to be use of God.

[Exodus 3:10 KJV] Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Why did God choose Moses? I think Dr. Maxwell, buts it best, “God gives the leader and emotional investment in the work.”

1. The leader has to have an emotional investment in the work.

What is this saying? This means that God knew that Moses had already done what we said that God did in verse 7-8. Moses has heard and saw.

I will give you something that will help you with your struggling, and you’re asking God what is your purpose for existing. Remember we said that God creates as a result of having problems.

• God needed a the garden kept, He created man

• God knew that man would be lonely, He created woman.

• God knew that man would fall, He sent Christ.

• God knew that we would need power, He sent the Holy Spirit.

Not only is you’re anger a key to your anointing and assignment, what you see is a problem and everyone else seems to over look is a key to your anointing and assignment.

Why did Moses see the problem to the point that Dr. Maxwell would say that he had an emotional investment? Because Moses was a Hebrew. These were his people. His Mother, his Sister where still in Egypt. So when you look at the excuses of Moses don’t thing for a moment that Moses was making excuses because he didn’t care. Excuses are giving many times because we feel helpless and don’t know what else to do.

As leaders in the body of Christ, if you want to help people the best way is to help them get pass there excuses for doing the things that they do. As a leader of the people of God you have to hear what God and this book is saying over what any other person or so call professional has to say.

This book says:

1. I’m able to do the opposite of what the world expected me.

2. I’m healed no matter what the test says.

3. I’m the head even when my live seems to be wagging like a tail.

2. God looks for a leader that is humble enough to follow other leaders or mentors.

One thing that I admire Moses for, even though Moses should have never got in the presence of God talking about them, he knew what his weaknesses were.

There are two times that you should never talk about your weaknesses.

1. In the presents of God, because it will come forth as an excuse.

2. In the presents of your enemy, because they will not forget & will use it, against you.

Moses knew what his weakness where and was humble enough to receive the help that God gave him. Moses needed Jethro and Aaron.

[1 Corinthians 4:15 KJV] For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers:

What this verse is saying is that in your life there will be many people that have great advice to give you, but there are very few that will father you.

[1 Corinthians 4:15 MSG] There are a lot of people around who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong, but there aren’t many fathers willing to take the time and effort to help you grow up.

If you’re going to do anything great in God remember “One is and insufficient number to reach success.” Even the One God that we serve had a three fold manifestation of His deity.

It takes real humility to be able to entreat your leaders as not just instructors, but fathers. Instructors are the once that are ever willing to tell you what your doing wrong. But it is the father that takes the time to tell you why it is wrong and what you need to do.

The Adam Clarke Commentary in reference to this verse speaking from Paul’s prospective, “Many offer to instruct you who have no parental feeling for you; and how can they? You are not their spiritual children; you stand in this relation to me alone;”

This was the Apostle Paul, speaking to the saints at the church of Corinth. Let me bring what Paul was saying closer to home. And the spiritual people will get it. If you’re a member of Divinity Temple of Christ, there will be a lot of people in and outside the church that will have a lot of good advice, but your not there spiritual children. They don’t have to stand before God and give an account for you, I do.

So why you are setting up allowing all these instructors to speak in your life, you best do like the prodigal son and arise and go back to your father’s house.

“Pastor I would talk to you but, you don’t understand.” What you mean is I’m not one that will set up listen & help you to make excuses so you can stay the way you are.

Jethro came to Moses after Moses has talked face to face with God, perform miracles in Pharaohs courts & assisted God in parting the Red Sea and told him that the way he was running the Government of Israel was incorrect. And Moses received Him as a father.

If I was to come to some of you and began to tell you what I see in your life’s you would get mad & leave the church and run us down in the street. Why? Because you don’t know who your spiritual father is.

[Hebrews 12:8 KJV] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

[Clarke] Then are ye bastards - This proceeds on the general fact, that bastards are neglected in their manners and education; the fathers of such, feeling little affection for, or obligation to regard, their spurious issue. But all that are legitimate children are partakers of chastisement or discipline; for the original word does not imply stripes and punishments, but the whole discipline of a child, both at home and at school.

Moses, the deliver of Israel was Chastise by Jethro his Spiritual father.

On next weak will go deeper in our elimination of the killers of the soul, & the barriers of success call excuses.
