Sharing the Good News
Text: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8 NIV)
Reading: Acts 1:6-11
Introduction
Each of us is called to share the Good News with others. This morning let’s consider the various ways that we can follow these words of exhortation:
Go tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go tell it on the mountain, That Jesus Christ is born.
I. Pastors can communicate the Good News through their sermons.
Pastors continually listen for God’s voice in Bible study and prayer. Each time they stand in the pulpit, they should deliver a relevant, pen¬etrating message from God for those who are listening.
II. We can communicate the Good News through song.
Those who have a special talent for singing can use their talent to glorify God.
But all of us can partic¬ipate in the song portion of our worship services. By doing so, we express our praise and thanks to God for who he is and for all he has done in our lives.
III. We can communicate the Good News by teaching, Sunday school, or Bible study.
Sunday school teachers and Bible study leaders are communicators of the Good News.
We need to remember that the Bible is not just a history textbook. It is the living Word of God.
We should study it diligently and draw life applications from its truths.
IV. We can communicate the Good News by sharing our personal testimony.
We can have frequent opportunities to tell others what Christ means to us. When we give our testimonies, we must rely on God to give us the right words.
V. We can communicate the Good News in our personal conversations.
Colossians 4:6 says, "Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone".
And 1 Peter 3:15 says, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have".
VI. We can communicate the Good News over the telephone.
We can’t always communicate with people in person, but we can usually get in touch with them by telephone. We can call Christian friends to encour¬age them in their walk with Christ, and we can call non-Christian friends to offer them support and indicate our hope for their spiritual welfare.
VII. We can communicate the Good News in letters or Christmas cards.
God can use a written message as well as a spoken message to help lead someone to faith in Jesus Christ.
VIII- We can communicate the Good News by purchasing Bibles or Christian books for others.
IX- We can communicate the Good News by investing in the work of God.
X- We can communicate the Good News through Christian causes we support.
Conclusion
Many ways are available for communicating the good news "that Jesus Christ is born." We need to share this good news thoughtfully, thankfully, and persistently.
