Summary: Christian Life is from Grace to Grace. We have nothing to brag about on our ownselves. Everything we have and everything we are because of God’s grace.

TOPIC: GRACE IN THE LIFE OF A CHRISTIAN

TEXT: John 1:17

I. WHAT IS GRACE?

Grace – can be simply defined as – God’s unmerited favor to the undeserving.

Genesis 6:8 – is the very first reference in the Bible to great concept of God’s Grace. In the midst of the MOST WICKED SOCIETY that history has ever seen – the Bible says, there was one man who was – “a just man and perfect in his generations” – Genesis 6:9 – and the reason the Bible has given why he was different was that he – “found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”

In this first mention – a VITAL DOCTRINE – is stressed. God’s Grace is not something which is earned.

It is significant that the first mention of the word “grace” in the New Testament (in Luke 1:30 – from the words of angel Gabriel to the Mary) stresses the same great truth (thus, Mary, just like Noah – “found grace with God.”
