Knowing God’s Will

Meditate on this:
Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Prov 3:5-6
WHY should we seek out God’s will?
Eph 5:17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
· As a follower of Christ your desire should be to UNDERSTAND the WILL of the LORD
WHAT should our attitude be?
Ps 40:8a I desire to do your will…
· As a follower of Christ your desire should be to DO the WILL of the LORD
HOW do we have the right attitude?
Ps 40:8b …O my God; your law is within my heart
· As a follower of Christ your desire should be to READ the WORD of the LORD
God Promises
Ps 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
· GOD will DIRECT you
· How? Though His WORD
From God’s word we find 8 objectives
Thess 4:3 God wants you to live a pure life. Keep yourselves from sexual promiscuity.
1. Do not practice SEXUAL IMMORALITY
Matt 22:37-39 Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”
2. Do LOVE God and LOVE others
1 Thess 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
3. Do GIVE THANKS
1 Pet 2:15 It is God’s will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you’re a danger to society
4. Do GOOD
Matt 28:19-20 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
5. Do WITNESS
Matt 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness
6. Do put GOD FIRST
1 Pet 1:15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.
7. Do BE HOLY
2 Pet 3:18 Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.
8. Do GROW in GRACE and KNOWLEDGE
Who is your source of strength to do the will of God?
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Question to Ask
· Am I apart from God?
Action to take
· Read your Bible every day this week and spend 10 minuets writing/thinking/singing/pondering on what you read. Journal it down and pray that God would speak to you through His word.
