Summary: . We stand here this morning freely to worship because of the youth of this nation. The young men and women who have labored in our military to keep this nation, and many nations free to worship God, our creator.

Read II Tim. 2:1-5 and I Tim. 1:8-16

This morning’s message is directed towards the youth but with a simple message to celebrate Labor Day. We stand here this morning freely to worship because of the youth of this nation. The young men and women who have labored in our military to keep this nation, and many nations free to worship God, our creator. Even as we speak our young men and women are in Iraq and Afghanistan, setting up a form of government that will allow freedom of religion. Their labor in Iraq and Afghanistan is a hardship worth enduring to give hope to those who wish to worship the one and only true God of the Universe. Aman! (I Tim. 2:3-4…God, who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.)

1. II Tim. 2:1-2

Timothy was a young preacher. His God given duty was to preach to those who would hear him and who would teach others also.

2. II Tim. 2:3-4

a. Good soldier of Jesus Christ

b. Do not get entangled in the affairs of this life.

3. II Tim 2:5

a. You cannot win anything unless you follow the rules!

4. II Tim 2:6

a. A person would be vary foolish to try to instruct and then not follow his own instructions.

5. I Tim 4:8

a. Godliness is profitable for all things

b. Promise of life that now is and that which is to come.

6. I Tim 4:12

a. Let no one despise your youth.

b. Be an example to the believers (Christians) in:

1. Word – what you say.

2. Conduct – how you act.

3. Spirit – having the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control….

4. Faith – Trust in God

5. Purity - Keeping yourself sotless before the world.

6. I Tim. 4:13 …give attention to doctrine…

7. I Tim 4:14 …do not neglect the gift that is in you

8. I Tim 4:15 …meditate on these things (think about these things).

9. I Tim 4:16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them and you will save yourself and those who hear (listen) to you.

Would you as a youth like to start you life today as a soldier of Jesus Christ. Why not this morning enlist in His army. You can if you, believe that Jesus is the risen Son of God, have a willingness to repent of your sins (change your life toward God), confess your believe before people and be baptized to wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord!
