I Am the Truth
Text: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus said “I am…the truth.” In today’s world the definition of truth is under attack. The prevailing worldview says that what is truth for you may not be truth for me. Another prevailing myth is that it really does not matter in what you place your faith just as long as you have faith. If you believe in something with enough faith, then that is all that matters. Frankly, these are all myths. There are no doubt some Muslims who have more faith in their religion than some Christians have in Christ, but it is the object of our faith that is more important that the faith itself. If a Muslim has a mountain-sized faith in his god and a Christian has mustard seed sized faith in Christ, which one has Salvation? Of course it is the one who is a Christian. Believing is not what saves us, it is Christ who saves us when we believe in Him. You can no more be saved by believing in anyone other that Christ than you can be save by believing in your potted plants on the back porch.
Jesus said, “I am…the truth.”
I. The Liberating Truth—John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
A. Free from deception of Satan.
B. Free from sin.
C. Free from bondage of public opinion.
II. The Sanctifying Truth—John 17:17,19 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
A. Sanctify—to set apart for God’s ownership and use. Obedience to the Truth sets God’s children apart from the world and places them in total ownership and control of God’s Spirit.
B. Sanctify—to make Holy. Obedience to the truth brings God’s children into a life of holiness.
III. The Defending Truth—Eph. 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

IV. The Exclusive Truth—John 18:37 To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
A. Christ is the source of all truth.
B. Any philosophy or theory that goes against the teaching of God’s Word is not founded in the Truth.
V. The Eternal Truth—Ps. 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. (Psalms 100:5)
The truth of God is eternal. Truth does not change with the seasons. Truth is not altered by the opinions of man. God’s Word is the source of all truth. Each of us will one day stand before God and give account for what we did with the truth. Jesus Christ is the Truth. How will you respond to the truth?
