Introduction:

- What is the Blood of Jesus Christ, and why is it important?

- There are at least 43 references to the blood of Christ in the New Testament, all testifying to its great importance in the salvation and daily life of the believer.

- Judas the betrayer spoke of it as "innocent blood (Matthew 27:4) and Peter called it "the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" (I Peter l:9).

- It is the cleansing blood in I John l:7 and the washing blood in Rev. l:5, stressing that it removes the guilt of our sins.

- The blood of Jesus Christ is central to the New Testament concept of redemption.

- Eph 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”

- Rev 12:11 also states, “They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

- The blood is not a morbid thing that television has produced, it is not something gross but rather something beautiful.

- The world doesn’t understand the songs we sing Washed in the blood of the Lamb, or There is a Crimson foundation filled with blood.

- Sounds morbid, but it’s something beautiful, because there is life in the blood for all who will be cleansed by His blood

- The Blood is what brings people near to God, it reconciles people back to God, we have access to God in prayer because of the shedding of Jesus blood, it’s a beautiful thing.

- This evening all of you here, sit in the presence of God because you have been washed in the blood of the lamb.

- You may not see it, but in the supernatural God sees the blood of His Son upon your life and that makes you worthy to sit in His presence.

- I like this story that shows the power in the Blood to transform lives:

When evangelist John Wesley (1703-1791) was returning home from a service one night, he was robbed. The thief, however, found his victim to have only a little money and some Christian literature. As the bandit was leaving, Wesley called out, "Stop! I have something more to give you." The surprised robber paused. "My friend," said Wesley, "you may live to regret this sort of life. If you ever do, here’s something to remember: ’The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin!’" The thief hurried away, and Wesley prayed that his words might bear fruit.

Years later, Wesley was greeting people after a Sunday service when he was approached by a stranger. What a surprise to learn that this visitor, now a believer in Christ as a successful businessman, was the one who had robbed him years before! "I owe it all to you," said the transformed man. "Oh no, my friend," Wesley exclaimed, "not to me, but to the precious blood of Christ that cleanses us from all sin!"

- One drop of blood will change the coarse of the world, it will change our families, friends and society.

- It determines our eternal destiny and gives us the peace of God while on earth.

- Yes the Blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for the world is a beautiful thing.

Transition:

- Now that we no what the blood is, I want to give you the benefits of One Drop Of His Blood.

Benefit 1: One Drop Of Blood Produces Forgiveness

Matt 26:28 says, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

- Forgiveness is necessary because we have sinned, destroyed our relationship with God and become subject to condemnation.

- Forgiveness is the means by which this relationship is restored.

- Forgiveness means to pardon, to cancel, or to send away.

- God’s forgiveness involves forgetfulness, saving people from eternal punishment, accepting them, delivering them from sin grip and transferring them into Christ’s Kingdom.

- It also includes development of the person, God promises to make you more like Him renewing you day unto day. He also promises eternal life.

- This is what forgiveness is God’s way, lets see what forgiveness does not look like:

A turtle family went on a picnic. They had prepared seven years for their outing. The family left home, searching for a suitable place. During the second year of their journey, they found it. For about six months they cleared the area, unpacked the picnic basket, and completed the arrangements. They discovered, however, that they had forgotten the salt. A picnic without salt would be a disaster, they all agreed.

After a lengthy discussion, the youngest turtle was chosen to retrieve the salt at home. Although he was the fastest of the slow-moving turtles, the little turtle whined, cried, and wobbled in his shell. He agreed to go on only one condition: that no one would eat until he returned. The family consented and the little turtle left.

Three years passed—and the little turtle had not returned. Five years. Six years. Then in the seventh year of his absence, the eldest turtle could no longer contain his hunger. He announced that he was going to eat and began to unwrap a sandwich. At that point, the little turtle suddenly popped out from behind a tree shouting, “SEE! I knew you wouldn’t wait! Now, I’m not going to get the salt.”

- I am thankful that God doesn’t treat me that way.

- He accepts me just the way I am.

- He believes in us.

- He cheers us on.

- He thinks the best of us.

- He is proud of us.

- When we mess up, he forgives and forgets, and gives us another opportunity to do good.

- That’s how God treats us, and that’s how we are to treat others. Let’s not think the worst of each other. Let’s expect the best.

- I am so thankful tonight that God does not hold anything against me, but willingly forgives me.

Benefit 2: One Drop Of Blood Produces Ransom Of All Believers From Evil Power

I Peter 1:18-19 says, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

- Without Christ, life is meaningless.

- The enemy loves to hide salvation from people because we leave our empty way of life that Peter describes and enter purposeful life.

- We are redeemed from the enemy and all the garbage he has for people.

- The devil’s purpose on earth is to steal, kill and destroy people’s lives.

- It could be emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally etc.

- But thanks be to God, Jesus came, defeated the enemy, broke his hold over the world and now we sit here redeemed and set free from the power of the enemy.

- Let me further describe redemption with this true story:

One day a lady pulled into a self-serve gas station to fill up her car. She got out of her car, hurried over to the pump, lifted the nozzle to her gas tank, and tried to pump the gas. Nothing happened. Belatedly she realized that this was one of those gas stations where you had to pre-pay. Frustrated and in a hurry, she ran inside, paid the cashier, and returned to her car to resume pumping her gas.

She squeezed the handle, but still nothing happened. “What kind of lousy gas station is this?” she mumbled angrily to herself. After trying again with no better results, she ran back in to the cashier and started giving him a piece of her mind. With a concerned look on his face, the cashier talked right over the top of the lady’s scolding

“Ma’am, please stay right here. Don’t go back to your car. I just called 911. When you were leaving the building after paying me, I saw a man get into the back seat of your car. It looked to me like he didn’t belong there. The only way I could get you to come back inside was to turn off your gas pump.”

Just then the police pulled up and took into custody the man who was hiding in the woman’s car. The woman learned later that he was trying to get initiated into a very dangerous gang. Armed with a knife, he had planned to kill her and steal her car once they left the gas station.

- The enemy is there to destroy, waiting in the back seat of our lives to pounce on us.

- But thanks be to God, who has redeemed us, stripped the enemy of his power and has truly set us free.

- All with one drop of blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary.

Benefit 3: One Drop Of Blood Justifies All Who Believe

Rom 3:23-25 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.”

- The word justify means to be righteous in God’s sight, or to be made righteous, to establish as right, or to set or put right.

- It means being in a right relationship with God rather than receiving a mere legal, judicial declaration.

- Basicly God forgives repentant sinners, whom He had pronounced guilty through the law and condemned to eternal death, restores them to divine favor, and sets them in a right relationship or fellowship with Himself and His will.

Listen to this story that defines it even more:

My friend Dr. Roy Gustafson has the finest illustration of justification I have ever heard. It seems that there was a man in England who put his Rolls-Royce on a boat and went across to the continent to go on a holiday. While he was driving around Europe, something happened to the motor of his car. He cabled the Rolls-Royce people back in England and asked, "I’m having trouble with my car; what do you suggest I do?" Well, the Rolls-Royce people flew a mechanic over! The mechanic repaired the car and flew back to England and left the man to continue his holiday. As you can imagine, the fellow was wondering, "How much is this going to cost me?" So when he got back to England, he wrote the people a letter and asked how much he owed them. He received a letter from the office that read: "Dear Sir: There is no record anywhere in our files that anything ever went wrong with a Rolls-Royce." That is justification.

How is Justification accomplished?

1. Being put right with God is a gift (Eph 2:8) - No one can put themselves right with God only God can.

2. Being put right with God happens through the redemption that came by Christ.

- You can’t be justified if you haven’t been saved or redeemed first.

3. Being put right with God comes by His grace and is appropriated through faith in Jesus Christ.

4. Being put right with God is related to the forgiveness of our sins (Rom 4:7)

- We are declared guilty but because of Christ death on the Christ we are forgiven.

5. When we are put right with God through faith in Christ, we are crucified with Christ and Christ comes to live in us. (Gal 2:16-21)

Conclusion:

- We have hope today because of the Blood of Jesus Christ

- I want to close with this story about how the Blood makes our salvation possible:

Tom carried his new boat to the edge of the river. He carefully placed it in the water and slowly let out the string. How smoothly the boat sailed! Tom sat in the warm sunshine, admiring the little boat that he had built. Suddenly a strong current caught the boat. Tom tried to pull it back to shore, but the string broke. The little boat raced downstream.

Tom ran along the sandy shore as fast as he could. But his little boat soon slipped out of sight. All afternoon he searched for the boat. Finally, when it was too dark to look any longer, Tom sadly went home.

A few days later, on the way home from school, Tom spotted a boat just like his in a store window. When he got closer, he could see -- sure enough -- it was his!

Tom hurried to the store manager: "Sir, that’s my boat in your window! I made it!"

"Sorry, son, but someone else brought it in this morning. If you want it, you’ll have to buy it for one dollar."

Tom ran home and counted all his money. Exactly one dollar! When he reached the store, he rushed to the counter. "Here’s the money for my boat." As he left the store, Tom hugged his boat and said, "Now you’re twice mine. First, I made you and now I bought you."
