DO YOU HAVE THE
POWER OF THE SPIRIT?
Ephesians 5:15 - 20
The Power of the Holy Spirit is how we posses that power that the apostle’s had back in Jesus’ day!!! In order for us to be that light of the world for Jesus, we have to posses this power.
After Tonight, hopefully you’ll have a better understanding, of how you can be filled with the Holy Spirit!!
First of all you can’t grieve the Holy Ghost!
Nor can you quench this spirit!
You have to begin to walk in the spirit!!AMEN
Church we have to learn how to tap into this power. Now don’t get me wrong I know we all had the Holy Spirit within us, and leading us in order for us to be saved to start with!!!!
But how do we draw from this power??
How do we make ourselves open, to the working of the Holy Ghost?
How do we receive the full dose?
We can answer all the above by looking at tonight’s scripture.
You already know that as a believer, you already have the Holy Ghost living inside.
We don’t need any other type of power!
We don’t need to ask God to give us his spirit again and again, because He’s already given his Spirit to us.
We already have everything we need to have the insight, the comfort, the power, and the courage and the wisdom.
Here’s what you do!!
Look in your bibles at vs. 18 where it says and be not drunk with wine wherein, is excess!!! But be filled with the Spirit AMEN!
This verse gives us 2 commands a negative and a positive.
The 1st we’re given, tells us not to give ourselves over to something that’s gonna have control over how we’ll act, speak, or just function in general!
Everybody knows how alcohol can affect us.
Someone on alcohol just don’t act right!!
They can’t walk straight, they can’t talk without slurring and,
Someone who is normally shy will be a big mouth, and someone who usually has good sense about them, suddenly becomes as stupid as they come!!!!!
This person is no longer in control of their actions.
The alcohol has taken over.
Now plainly putting it, is they’re drunk,
But I like to think of this command as, applying to anything that would cause us to act against our normal behavior, like Drugs, lust, Greed, physical desires, or anything of the flesh that causes us to do or say things that we normally wouldn’t!!!!!AMEN
Galatians 5:19 tells it like this:
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness.
Vs. 20 goes on to say:
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:
If there are any of these things that posses you in your life, or are in control of you, in your life, You must put a stop to them, immediately if not sooner, The Apostle Paul has told us this here in Galatians!!!!!
The other command He gives us, is to be filled with the Spirit!!!!
You have to begin to walk in the Spirit!!!
Galatians 5:25 says:
If we live in the Spirit, let us
also walk in the Spirit!!!
This ain’t no suggestion, and it’s not even a casual statement,
People The Bible says it’s a Command!!!!AMEN
And there’s lots of people that’s confused about being filled with the Spirit.
Some may think that it’s an emotion,
And its’ not an emotion!!!!
Just because when we’re in the Spirit sometimes we laugh, or cry, or faint, or wiggle, and maybe you’ll speak in tongues or jump pews, run laps, or any number of stuff!
Or some Christians may think that the Holy Ghost is just for some upper class of people but its not!!!
It’s essential for us all to be filled to the max with the Holy Ghost!!!!!
I don’t know about you all, but I want everything that God has to offer me!!!!
Tonight people we don’t need to get drunk on the alcohol
And we don’t need to get high on the marijuana.
And tonight we don’t need the high we’d get from pain pills or any other drugs.
Tonight I want to be intoxicated on God!!!
If you want to drive under the influence
with something, get drunk on this new wine that Jesus Has To Offer us!!!!AMEN
Getting drunk on the things that this world has to offer won’t do anything but ruin your life!!!!
But Getting filled up with the Holy Ghost is everything you could’ve ever asked for, and then a whole lot more, And eventually will lead to everlasting life!!!!!!!
God’s desire is that we should be completely overflowed, and intoxicated, and controlled; by Him alone.
THAT IS YOUR SOURCE OF STRENGTH AND NOT TO MENTION YOUR POWER!!
So what does it mean to have,
THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT???
It means that you have come to the place in your life where you have wholeheartedly decided to serve Jesus Christ.
And you have to be filled with the Spirit because you are controlled by what has you filled up!!!!
Fill yourself up with anger, and anger will control your life!!!
Fill yourself up with greed, and greed will dominate your life
Fill yourself up with lust, and lust will govern you!!
Fill yourself up with love and Love’s influence will hold you as long as it can!!
But if you will fill yourself with the Holy Ghost, then you have the power of the Spirit!
Are you gonna quench the Spirit and try to keep on doing things your own way, or will you be controlled by the Spirit???
Believers who won’t allow themselves’s to be controlled by the Spirit, don’t loose the spirit because they are sealed unto the day of redemption, but they loose the fullness of what we would call the manifestation of the Spirit!!!!
Just remember this; it’s a command, from God, that we be controlled by the Spirit!!And it has to be continuous,.
And its something that we can’t do for ourselves’s God has to allow us to do it!!!
But we have to be obedient to HIM!!!!!
For us to be filled with the Spirit we have to always be going through the process that leads us to it!!AMEN
John 14:17 says:
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you!!!!
And The Holy Ghost is a perfect gentleman.
The Holy Ghost will not enter in to us if we he us unwanted. Nor will he enter in anywhere where there’s sin, or fleshly desires.
Just like you can’t straddle the fence
Nor be lukewarm.
The Bible says if you’re lukewarm He will spue you out of his mouth!!!!!
And we have to make certain that our spiritual walk is in the same direction as God’s will!!
If we’re not living our lives and I mean every part of our lives in tune with God, then we can’t expect to be totally filled with the Spirit.
So the question at hand is
Do you have the power of the Spirit!!!!!
One of my favorites is John 15:5:
I am the vine, ye are the branches,
AH - LISTEN TONIGHT;
He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing!!!!!
The main thing here tonight that we learn is
that the command to be filled ain’t yesterday or tomorrow, its right Now!!!!!
And its just like keeping gas in the car
it has to be a continuous process!!!!AMEN
Just like our walk with Jesus Christ, at first we crawl, and then we learn how to walk.
And the same is true with our walk in the Spirit!!!!!
And as we grow we get to the point where we don’t have to even think about it no more.
Just like walking down the street!!!
Our prayer’s to be filled are always there,
like a second nature if you will!!!!
Here’s how simple it is to receive the Power of the Spirit!!!
John 20:22 says:
And when He had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Every single Believer has this option!!!!!
Acts 8:12 says:
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women!!!!!
Turn with me to Acts 8:14-17
Every believer can have this folks.
You can have the anointing of the Spirit
Isaiah 61:1 says:
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
1st John 2:27 says:
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you; but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
People we have to worship God and His Holy Spirit with our hearts, and this will create an attitude of praise for Him.
And I’m not saying that your Spirit led worship is supposed to be out of control!!
Our Worship is free but it don’t have to be fanatical and surely not fleshly.
If we will have a burning desire for God to have his way, in Thanksgiving and praise.
Then surely He will, have His way and
our Blessings will be pressed down shaken together, and running over!!!!!
People God is a God of life - not death!!
And the only place you get life is from God.
And God is the one who breathed into man’s nostrils, so that he became a living spirit.
Who is the only way, ;the truth, and the life?
GOD IS!!!!!
Now we surely all know that there will always be some dead folks in the church, who just can’t understand the principle of God!!!
You can very easily see them in every crowd.
They walk around carrying gloom and despair everywhere that they go.
When you receive your package;
the Power of the Spirit,
don’t leave it in the box.
OPEN IT UP!!!!!!
It’ll replace your weaknesses with strength
And it’ll replace your talents with HIS GIFTS
What you receive, AND What you Believe, is totally, according to your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!AMEN
Matthew 10:41 says:
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet’s reward.
James 1:21 says:
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Hebrews 4:16 says:
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
People being filled with the Spirit is the normal Christian Experience!!!!
Is there anybody here tonight who feels like they’re empty???
IF So then you need to pull in and fill up!!!
Let me lead you tonight to,
THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT!!!!!
I know its easy to praise God when things are going good!!!
But we just gotta remember that we have to praise him as well when things are going bad!!!
Don’t let satan win again tonight, don’t give him that satisfaction!!!!!
He can’t win, If you say he can’t, in the Name OF JESUS!!!!!
Won’t you come tonight and receive everything that God has to offer you???
Just a little 15 second prayer is what’s holding you from making it into Heaven, and missing
that terrible place called hell!!!!!
