Summary: Part 4 in this 4-part sermon series on worship addresses The Benefits of Worship.

I.The Benefits Of Worship

A.Worship Benefits God

1.He Is Enthroned By Our Worship

a.Psalm 22:3 – “Yet You are holy, O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.”

God says I will show up in any worship experience, whether private or corporate. I will come in and dine with that individual. I will reveal myself to that individual. I will bless that worship, because it comes from clean hands and pure heart.

2.He Deserves It

a.Revelation 4:11 – “Worthy are You, our Lord, and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

Throughout scripture, but especially in Revelation, where John’s vision on the Isle of Patmos is recorded, we see numerous examples which tell us that God alone is worthy of all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory which is due His name.

B.Worship Benefits The Believer

1.We can worship now

a.John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I am come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

None of us is as concerned as we should be about the image we really project to the community around us. At least not when we profess to belong to Jesus Christ and still fail to show forth His love and compassion, as we should. A.W. Tozer, in his book “Whatever Happened To Worship,” quotes Jean-Paul Sartre in describing his turning to philosophy and hopelessness as a turning away from a secularistic church saying, “I did not recognize in the fashionable God who was taught me, Him who was waiting for my soul. I needed a Creator; I was given a big businessman!” Jesus lived and died to make worshipers out of rebels.

2.We will worship in Heaven

a.2 Corinthians 5:6-8 – “Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord for we walk by faith, not by sight we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”

Even now the angels in heaven, the twenty-four elders who never cease to say “Worthy art Thou, our Lord, and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou dids’t create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created,” and the four living creatures who day and night never cease to say, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come,” are worshipping around the throne. And so will we!

C.Worship Benefits The World

1.Holds back the Demonic Forces of Hell

a.2 Corinthians 10:3-5 – “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”

2.Draws all men unto Himself

a.John 3:14; 12:32 – “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”
