The Hem of His Garment
Text: Mark 5:24-34; Matthew 9: 21-22
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Matthew 9: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
I. Her Condition—An Incurable Disease…Sin is The Disease!
A. She suffered from False Cures—She Grew Disappointed
1. SIN WILL OFFER FALSE HOPE. . .BUT IN THE END IT WILL DISAPPOINT YOU!
B. She suffered from Faltering Finances—She Grew Poorer
--1. SIN WILL ROB:
----a) YOUR HEALTH
----b) YOUR HAPPINESS
----c) YOUR PEACE OF MIND
----d) YOUR HOPE
----e) YOUR WEALTH, to name just a FEW!
C. She suffered from Failing Health—She Grew Worse
--1. SIN WILL SLOWLY EAT AWAY UNTIL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT!
II. Her Course—An Eternal Physician…Christ is the Healer!
A. She Caught News of The Saviour…He is Hope!
--1. She had heard of His Healing—Who will tell Today?
--2. She had seen evidence of His Healing—What evidence does the World see Today?
B. She Came Near to the Saviour…To Touch His Hem!
--1. She Made Her Way Through The People—Her Desire was Strong—SO IT IS TODAY…Someone wants to make their way to Jesus:
----a) Will we POINT them? OR
----b) Will we HINDER them?
C. She Confessed to The Saviour…Her Condition to His Cleansing!
III. Her Cleansing—An Immediate Cure…Faith was the Key!
A. She believed that He was who He said He was!
B. She believed that He could do what He said He would do!
C. She believed that He would do it FOR her!
Conclusion: Jesus still Heals! ARE YOU:
.Sick with sin?
.Sick of sin?
.Discouraged because it seems nothing will ever be right again? That you will never find real peace?
.Disheartened because it seems there is no hope?
.Saddened with the cares of this life?
.Hurting because you care too much to cry?
.Weak because it seems you’ll never be strong again?
What is the DISEASE of DISCOURAGEMENT that has troubled you so long. “Take it to Jesus, Take it to Jesus!”
“Jesus can heal you, Jesus alone!”
