2nd PETER 2 : 4 - 9
Listen Church today, Sin is a rebellion toward
the Lord!
Sin has several forms – Sin is Disobedience
Sin is accusing – Sin is ignoring God!
Sin is not loving your neighbor!!
Sin is committing adultery and Fornication!
Sin has so many consequences that
I could probably go on all day and all night
But I probably better not!!
So many times today when people sin they don’t
Realize the impact it’ll have on them and God!
You shouldn’t desire to sin because it can
Sometimes be catastrophic.
And whether you can feel sins impact or not,
It’s still a reality and God Feels IT too!!
Sin effects us Physically!
Sexual sin produces sexually transmitted diseases
Such as Hepatitis, Aids, Herpes, and the list
Of Venereal Diseases goes on and on and on!
Some sin may cause you to die or to be put in
Jail or in the Hospital!
Some can cause Brain Damage Like Alcohol Abuse
Or Drug Abuse.
Sin can cause physical punishment like
Smoking cigarettes causes cancer
And chewing tobacco causes mouth, tongue, and
Throat Cancer!
All sin produces bad consequences!
Sin also affects our conscience.
Or most commonly called GUILT!
Without God we really have no remedy
For Guilt.
Guilt can be mild or it can be overwhelming!
I’m sure that there have been people that have
Actually killed themselves because of Guilt!
Like The disciple Judas, He hung himself
because of his Guilt from leading those
people to Jesus.
Guilt produces side effects like;
Worry, Fear, Sadness, Despair, Rejection,
And So Very Much More!!!
Without God it’s very difficult to overcome
These problems that guilt can produce!
Sin also produces spiritual problems which
Affect people committing sins.
Sin separates us from God and it robs us
From the eternal reward that Jesus paid the
Price for, on the cross at calvary!
Sin will cause us to have spiritual death!
When all we have to do is repent and submit
Ourselves back into obedience to God and
That’s The Remedy for everything that
goes wrong.
Just keep in mind that there is no escaping
What lies beyond this life, We can experience
Eternal Life through Jesus Christ or we can
Experience eternal Death!
And that is what the devil wants!
If you have noticed the devil don’t bother
People living in sin too much, because he
Already has a hold on them.
But you give your life to Jesus and watch
Out, cause you are going experience some
Battles with Satan!!
And if you don’t battle Satan then you will
Experience Judgment Day!!
2nd Peter Chapter 2:4 - 9
For if God spared not the angels that sinned
But cast them down to hell, and delivered them
Into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto
Judgment.
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah
The eighth person, a preacher of righteousness,
Bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into
Ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly.
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked
For that righteous man dwelling among them in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Here is a place that nobody will escape,
And God knows how to punish the wicked
And he knows how to reward the righteous!
2nd Peter makes it very clear that there are
no exceptions to this law of God.
So whoever sins against God is doing major
Harm to themselves.
If you rebel against God you will be sent down
To Hell! That’s pretty simple!
I’ve heard that some people believe in a place
Called Purgatory or someplace between Heaven
And Hell.
I don’t know about you but I don’t believe in it!
There isn’t a place or state between the height of
Glory and the depth’s of misery, for you to find rest!
If we have salvation we will enjoy what God has
Provided for us, But if we live in sin then we will
Suffer in hell!!
Sin is the works of darkness, The Bible tells us
Not to fellowship with the unfruitful works of
Darkness.
Darkness is the wages of Sin! Darkness and misery and torment follow the darkness of sin!
If you don’t want to walk according to God’s
Direction, and stay in the lighted path, then
You will experience being deprived of the light.
If there are only a few righteous, they will be
Preserved, God wont destroy the Good with the bad.
Even in wrath He’s still going to have mercy on
Those who follow and obey Him. Even in today’s evil society - the preachers of Righteousness
will be preserved, at a time of General destruction!
In Noah’s day God destroyed the world with water
But WHY?
Because there was a world full of Un-Godly men
And un-Godliness puts us outside the realm of
God’s divine protection!!!
Take Sodom and Gomorah for example,
They were full of darkness and sin and look
What God done to them,
They were turned into dust and ashes!!!
But Lot and his family were saved!!
I guess the point I’m trying to make is,
If you are sinners before the Lord, then you might
As well expect the dreadful punishment that
You are gonna get on the other side of this life!!
Or you can live for God and reap the benefit of
Life everlasting on streets of gold gates of pearl
And walls of Jasper and a river of live!!!
When God sends destruction on the un-Godly
He commands deliverance for the righteous folks!
If He rains Fire and Brimstone on the head
Of the wicked, then he will cover and protect
The heads of the just people and they
Will be hid from His wrath!!!!
If we keep bad company then we can’t escape
The guilt or the grief of sin!!
We can’t let the sins of others trouble us or
It’s impossible to stay pure ourselves!!
If we allow our family or our friends to enter
Our home and take the Lords name in vain or
If we allow fornication, or Adultery, or drinking,
or smoking In our house then
I THINK that we are as guilty
In the sin as the person doing it!!!
Don’t fellowship with darkness!!
And you won’t have to be judged for it!!!!
HEBREWS 2:2 – 3 SAYS
For if the word spoken by angels was
Steadfast, and every transgression and
Disobedience received a just recompense
Of reward;
How shall we escape if we neglect so great
Salvation, which at the first began to be spoken
By the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by
Them that heard him;
This gospel is described as a great salvation,
It’s so great that it can’t even be put into words.
It discovered our Savior, who was manifested
Through God to show us how to be saved from
Such so great a sin and such great misery!!!
And not to mention to be restored to such
Great holiness and such great happiness!!
Revelation 20:15 says
And whosoever was not found written in the
Book of life was cast into the lake of fire!!
Though Adam and Eve were the first to
Bring Sin. We have been justified and set
Free from the bondage of sin through
The Blood of Jesus Christ!!
ROMANS 5;12 SAYS:
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the
world and death by sin; and so death passed upon
all men, for that all have sinned.
Adam was a public person and he communicated
Sin and death to all of us!!!!
We see our cruel world full of iniquities, and full
Of calamities.
And it all leads back to the garden of Eden
And one man and one woman Adam and Eve!
1ST PETER 3:21 SAYS:
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,)
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
So you see Your sins will affect you in terrible
Ways!
You will be affected physically, spiritually,
Mentally and not to mention you will be
Condemned To a tormenting lake of fire.
A tormenting place designed for the devil and
The fallen angels that followed him.
God doesn’t have any pleasure of seeing you
Punish in a burning hell!!
EZEK 33:11 SAYS:
Say unto them, as I live, saith the Lord God,
I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but
That the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die,
O house of Israel?
God takes no pleasure in punishing the wicked but
You have to understand that All SINNERS
WILL BE PUNISHED!
God’s word makes this very plain:
The wages of sin is death!!
Aren’t you glad that Jesus came to preach,
Teach, and to be the sacrifice for all of us?
When the wicked people stood beneath the cross
And tormented Christ and said, if you are the
Son of God, come down from the cross,
Don’t you praise The Lord that He was meek
Enough to stay there on the cross?
And die for you and me, just lowly sinners?
Do you know that He could’ve called
12 Legions of angels To his side!!
(36 to 72000)
But he chose to stay!!
Thank You Jesus!!!!
Sin’s have cost God, Dearly Church!
Our Sin’s have demanded the death of Jesus!
Christ didn’t hang between heaven and earth
On the cross because He had to, He did it
Because he loved us so much and only wanted
Good for us!!
The first Man and Woman introduced sin to
This paradise and defied God.
But because of His love for us
He was willing to pay the TOP Price
to get us back!!!
I want all of you to know that there was a cost,
A consequence if you will,
He redeemed us or bought us back with
His own blood,
The consequence of our sins!
Jesus Christ gave himself to us through the
Virgin Mary.
PHILIPIANS 2:5 – 8
Let this mind be in you which was also in
Christ Jesus:
Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery, to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took
Upon him the form of a servant, and was
Made in the likeness of men:
And Being found in fashion as a man, he
Humbled himself and became obedient unto
Death, even the death of the cross!!!
JOHN 3:16 SAYS
For God so loved the world that He gave His
Only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life!
MARK 1:30-33
And the angel said unto her, fear not, Mary: for
Thou hast found favour with God.
And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb,
And bring forth a son and shalt call his name
Jesus
He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever
And of his kingdom there shall be no end!!
Our sins caused such a great sacrifice!!
The Father sacrificed His Son.
God don’t even require this of man.
In fact God forbid Human sacrifice!
But He sent his son for a human sacrifice.
Because of our sins Jesus was sent here
Directly from the throne of Heaven
For a season and took on the human form
Of God’s very own creation.
And furthermore our sins caused his death
On the cruel cross at calvary!!!
Our sins caused him to be beat to near death!
He was beaten with rods that were two inches in diameter, and about six feet long.
These Roman soldiers hated Jesus and really
wanted to hurt him
Our sins were responsible for the unmerciful beating
These soldiers spit on Him, right in his face
Over and over and over again.
They beat him with a cat o nine tails
Which was a whip with nine strips of leather
About six feet long,
And on their ends were pieces of bone, metal
And glass and sharp things so it would cut flesh!
Jesus was striped naked and tied, His hands
And feet were tied to rings.
The Roman whip is dipped into salt water
To make the whipping more excruciating
As a string would wrap around your finger
That’s how the whip is wrapping itself around
The body of Jesus, and with each blow there
Are nine stripes on our saviors back and sides.
You and I caused this because of SIN!!!
And the bible says by his stripes we are healed.
God planned out all of this punishment and
Torture.
Jesus got so weak that the soldiers forced one
Of the spectators to finish carrying his cross
To the hill called Golgotha.
When you are crucified on the cross you actually
Die from suffocation.
I’ve heard that sometimes people will hang there
For days, but Jesus was beaten so badly that it
Only took about 9 hours for him to finally die.
They were notorious to break their legs so
They would suffocate.
But there were no bones broken on the body
Of Jesus!!!
ROMANS 5:8 SAYS
Though he were a Son, yet he learned the
Obedience by the things which he suffered
Church He suffered for you and for me!!!
HEBREWS CHAP 9 SAYS:
And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
But after this the judgment;
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;
And unto them that look for him shall he appear
The second time without sin unto salvation.
Do you know Jesus tonight?
He knows you, and He knows your heart!
He died for your sin! There is no sin to great
To lay at the feet of Jesus!!
Won’t you come forward and give your life to Him
He surely gave his life for you and for me!!
