"I’ve Got To Keep On Movin’"
Genesis 19:1-29 NIV
I recall when I was younger, my best friend Daniel introduced me to a song that we would often break out into, whose words were a bold resolution of resistance to failure and an affinity for pressing on. Though it’s lyrics weren’t proper grammar and diction, it felt right when you’d sing the words; "Ain’t nobody gonna break my stride, ain’t nobody gonna slow mw down, oh no, I’ve got to keep on movin’."
This fond memory came to mind as I began to hear the Lord minister to me about being delivered into a place to be blessed. The Lord beagn to show me the pattern of how he delivered and moved people in order to bless them;
a) The Children of Israel
b) Mephiboseth / Lodabar
c) Joseph-Coat many colors
d) Mary & Joseph - w/ Jesus
But the story that stuck, the one that had God speaking to me the most was the story of Lot and his family in the Plain areas of Sodom & Gomorrah. And the Lord began to speak to me about Destiny, Deliverance, and Decision. In this story we find all three of these items at work. The American Heritage Dictionary defines these three words as:
a) Destiny: The inevitable or necessary fate to which
a particular person or thing is destines; lot.
b) Deliverance: the state of being rescued, freed,
caused to escape from evil, given safety or
salvation; redeemed, or transferred.
c) Decision: The act of reaching a decision, or
making up ones mind; firmnss of charachter or
action; (youth ministry; it doesn’t happen
overnight.) Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
I believe God is calling us today to examine the importance of these three ideals in order for us to better understand the need to move with God as he does what is just in his own eyes. Stop questioning the process and start enjoying the product. Everybody wants to know why and how, so bad that they miss out on the result. I don’t know about you, but I’ve hit a stage in my life where I don’t need to know how or why, I’m just ready to recieve. I yeild to you oh God to have your way, to do what you want to do, say what you want to say, mold me, mend me, bend me, break, me do what you have to do to get me there Lord God, just get me there. And I promise I’ll follow your instructions and I won’t stop, can’t stop until I get where you’re sending me. If you understand that God is trying to take you to another, better, more prosperous place than this, and you say you want to go, why do you choose not to move?

& Gomorrah (know that at some point somebody
prayed for your destiny)
b) Gen 19: 1-9 Lot meets the angels / towns men
come for them (remember how it was when sin
surrounded you and put preassure on your
salvation)
c) Gen 19:10-11 The angels pull Lot in & blind the men
(Has God ever pulled you out of harms way just in
time and defeated your attackers)
d) Gen 19:14 Lot’s Sons-in-law think the destruction
is a joke (There’s always going to be someone who
won’t believe the vision of what’s to come/hold u
back)
e) Gen 19:16 Lot hesitates and the angels grab his
hand (Even when you would hesitate to be
delivered God’s mercy grabs you by the hand &
pulls you through)
f) Gen 19:17 Angels tell Lot to flee for his life
(your life dependson the next move you make post-
deliverance; you can’t stop moving; you can’t look
back; get to the higher ground)
g) Gen 19:21 God waits for Lot to enter into safety
before wrath (God can’t do anything until he gets
you into the new place, so you have to be quick
about it)
h) Gen 19:26 Lot’s wife becomes a pillar of salt
(The choice is yours; how well u follow directions
not only determines if you get in position for the
blessing, but if you stay there; remember where
you came from, but don’t go back)
Lot could have followed in suit with his wife and looked back but he choose to be the captain of his own destiny. I imagine as Lot was in transit he heard his wife’s footsteps suddenly stop, or perhaps she let out a cry for help as she dissolved, I don’t know, and he had to chhoe not to even look back for her.
Romans 8:38-39: " For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
