PROMISE

“Promised before/Promised beforehand”— ???????????????—To announce before; Promise before.

MESSENGERS

“Prophets”—????????—One who, moved by the Spirit of God & hence his organ or spokesman, solemnly declares to men what he has received by inspiration, especially concerning future events, & in particular such as relate to the cause & kingdom of God & to human salvation.

SCRIPTURES

“Holy”—?????—Most holy thing, a saint. ‘????? has probably as its most fundamental meaning, separation, i.e., from the world to God’s service. If not the original meaning, this at any rate is a meaning early in use. This separation, however, is not chiefly external, it is rather a separation from evil & defilement. The moral signification of the word is therefore the prominent one. This word, rare & of neutral meaning in classical Greek, has been developed in meaning, so that it expresses the full N.T. conception of holiness as no other does.’—Thayer

“Scriptures”—?????—A writing, thing written. The Scripture, used to denote either the book itself, or its contents; A certain portion or section of the Holy Scripture.

‘The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired & is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, & truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. There, all Scripture is totally true & trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, & therefore is, & will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, & the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, & religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.’

Deut. 4:1-2—

Josh. 8:30-34—

Ps. 19:7-14—

Ps. 119:9-16—

Ps. 119:89—

Ps. 119:97-105—

Mat. 5:17-20—

2Tim. 3:14-17—4:4—

—Argumentation:

2Tim. 3:14-17—“But you must continue in the things which you have learned & been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, & that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, & is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2Tim. 1:8-11—“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us & called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose & grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death & brought life & immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, & a teacher of the Gentiles.”

Lk. 24:13-27—“Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, & slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! “Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things & to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses & all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”

Willful ACCEPTANCE / RECOGNITION(:3a)

—Explanation/Argumentation:(:3a)

:3a—“concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord,....”

“His Son Jesus Christ our Lord”—

“His Son”

Jn. 3:16-18—“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Isa. 9:6—“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Jn. 3:35-36—“The Father loves the Son, & has given all things into His hand. “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; & he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

“Jesus”—??????—From Hebrew “ewvwhy” (Yeshua—Joshua)—YHWH is salvation.

Mat. 1:21—“And she will bring forth a Son, & you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.””

Deut. 18:18-19—“‘I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, & will put My words in His mouth, & He shall speak to them all that I command Him. ‘And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.”

Acts 3:19-24—““Repent therefore & be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, “& that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, “whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. “For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. ‘And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ “Yes, & all the prophets, from Samuel & those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.”

“Our Lord”—??????—He to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, lord.

Jn. 20:28—“And Thomas answered & said to Him, “My Lord & my God!””

Willful EXPECTATION(:3b)

—Explanation/Argumentation:(:3) Hinge/Adherence

:3—“concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,”

“Born of the seed of David”—

Jer. 33:14-18—“‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel & to the house of Judah: ‘In those days & at that time I will cause to grow up to David A Branch of righteousness; He shall execute judgment & righteousness in the earth. In those days Judah will be saved, And Jerusalem will dwell safely. And this is the name by which she will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’ “For thus says the LORD: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel; ‘nor shall the priests, the Levites, lack a man to offer burnt offerings before Me, to kindle grain offerings, & to sacrifice continually.’””

“Born”—

Lk. 2:11—““For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

“Of the seed of David”

“According to the flesh”—

Mat. 1:1-16; Lk. 3:23-38—Jesus’ Genealogy

Jn. 1:14—“And the Word became flesh & dwelt among us, & we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace & truth.”

Willful DECLARATION(:4)

—Explanation:(:4)

:4—“& declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.”

“Declared”—?????—To define—To mark out the boundaries or limits (of any place or thing) 1b to determine, appoint.

“Power”—???????—Strength, power, natural ability, general & inherent—Inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts & puts forth.

“Holiness”—????????—Majesty, holiness; Moral purity.

“Resurrection”—?????????—A raising up, rising(from a seat); A raising from the dead.

—Argumentation:

Acts 2:22-24—““Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, & signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know-- “Him, being delivered by the determined purpose & foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, & put to death; “whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”

1Cor. 15:13-19—“But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty & your faith is also empty. Yes, & we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.”
