Intro:

King David understood this when he wrote in agony to the Lord when his enemies were surrounding him!

Psalms 55:22

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Peter wrote to the leaders in the church and in the midst of telling them to beware of Satan’s lion like attacks he exclaimed!

1Pe 5:7

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

But what did Jesus have to say about our burdens…after all he was the one who would bear them all on the tree!

Matthew 11:25-30

I. The Possessor and Intercessor – God’s personality and plan are revealed

A. Jesus possessed the emotions of God vs. 11:20-24

B. Jesus possessed the authority of God vs. 11:27a

C. Jesus possessed the pathway to God vs. 11:27b

II. The Clarion Call – The call is loud and clear

A. A call for the tired –

those that are consumed in the realm of flesh – 11:28a

B. A call for the uninspired –

those that are consumed in the battle of the soul – vs. 11:28b

C. A call for those on the tradition treadmill –

those trying to do it through law – “shema” – Deut 11:13-20, Deut 6:4-9

III. The Penetrating Promise – The promise passes through every realm

A. Penetrates the walls of our needs- vs. 12:9-13

B. Penetrates the walls of man mad creeds – vs. 12: 1-8

C. Penetrates the walls of emotions –vs. 11:29

D. Penetrates the walls of the spirit – crucifixion was coming

Conclusion:

What was the Call? Lay Down Your Burdens! ..Pick up your Destiny!

Our past cannot defeat us!

Our future is right before us!

Our enemy is under our feet!

The Kingdom of God is breathing through us!
