Summary: Our destination is to a place where there will be no more suffering as we know it here. Funeral message.

THE LAND OF “NO MORE”.

Gen 12:1

12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Heb 11:8-9

8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

9 By faith he sojourned (lived) in the land of promise,(land of no more)

Let me first say here that Leon didn’t leave home. He went home.

For you see the Bible teaches and the song, writer penned it well when he wrote “This world is not my home. I’m just passing through. My treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue.

There were a few times when Heddi and I were able to draw aside and talk. The day before Leon went home, I told her that Leon was going to the land of no more. No more suffering, no more hiccups, caused by the cancer. He will never be nauseated again.

Today Leon is settling in- in the land of promise (THE LAND OF NO MORE)

Some of you may have wondered about the rocks that are around his neck.

A few months ago I preached a message titled “Remember the Rock”.

Josh 24:26-27

26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.

I went out and gathered stones and gave everyone a stone.

In that service we confessed that we were going to serve the Lord and that these stones were a witness. Also that these stones were a reminder of, God’s mercy in providing salvation, deliverance, healing, and all the promises He has given to us, e.g. provisions, protection, peace, things in this life and that which is to come, i.e. a mansion in the land of no more. And finally a reminder of all the promises that, we had made to God.

I ask Leon if he was afraid. He said, no.

I ask him about his relationship with God. He said it was good.

About two days before he went home he laid in his bed so heavily sedated that he could not respond to anyone yet holding that stone as tight as he could. Holding fast to the promises of God.

He loved to talk about Ford Pickups, The load they could haul, the pulling power. I’d mention my little S-10 Chevy and he would call it a toy.

I had some great times with him, as most of you did. We went camping, stripper fishing, ate supper in their home. Had a great time together.

Leon love to work. Sometimes he would mow the grass and use his weed eater at the church. When he would go down to the square for, Wild West Days or Christmas on the Square to witness to people in our community, he would be right in the middle of it, loading and unloading all the equipment, doing his part so that somehow someone would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior.

You are going to have to use your mind’s eye this afternoon because I want you to see into the land of no more. See what Leon is enjoying this morning because he chose Jesus as his savior.

No more poverty

Ps 22:26

26 (Leon) will eat and be satisfied; (The food that he is eating today is not making him sick)

Rev 7:16-17

16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Isa 35:10

10 and the ransomed of the LORD will return.

They will enter Zion with singing;

everlasting joy will crown their heads.

Gladness and joy will overtake them,

and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

and your moon will wane no more;

the LORD will be your everlasting light,

Rev 21:1-4

21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Rev 21:18-21

18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald

20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

Rev 22:1-2

22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Rev 5:11-13

11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Rev 22:20

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I said earlier that Leon was a worker, and his work is not finished. Today he is a gatekeeper. He is waiting for his family at the gate until they all safely inside.

If he could speak to you today, he would say “you’ve got to see this place”.

He’d say Heddi “I’m waiting for you baby”

In closing I want to tell you a story my pastor told a family in this situation.

Tell story of man dying and calling each family member in to say “goodnight, I’ll see you in the morning,” except for the younger son, which he told good bye because would never see him again unless he accepted Christ as his savior.
