SHOW US A SIGN

Matt 12:38-40

38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Herod wanted to see a sign.

The crowd said "come down from the cross and we will beleive".

Jesus said "if one arose from the dead, they would not believe".

They missed all the obvious signs. His love

Review what Christ has already done in their presence.

Review what He has done in our lives.

Jer 10:23

23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

He has developed Christ like character in our lives.

(we love, we long to be like Him)

If you wanted God to show you a sign this morning, what sign would you need?

INWARD:

Healing?

Deliverance?

An expression of love? (Did not he die?)

Financial?

Relationships?

Outward:

Family, Friends, Church

What other signs would you need to see.

I believe He has already shown you one by the simple fact that you are here this morning.

By the fact that you fear to disobey Him.

You fear Hell.

1 Peter 5:8-9

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith,

John 10:10

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Did you lie when you wanted Him to come into your life?

Or whatever you wanted Him to do for you?

The battle is not doubt. If it is, what keeps bringing you back?

I think the battle is living out your faith.

Believers walk and talk their faith.

My children believe that they have a savings account because their mother tells them that she puts money into it. They do not see her put it in the bank. They believe because she says it.

How much more confidence can we have in God’s Word?

Ps 103:3

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Ps 103:12

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Need a sign? Look at me.

Don’t doubt. Just believe.

Rom 8:35

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rom 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 10:29

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
