Summary: Learning to make our words agree with God’s word

CAN TWO WALK TOGETHER EXCEPT THEY AGREE

Amos 3:3

Can two walk together except they be agreed.

I want to talk about the power of God’s word and about being in agreement with God’s word.

I want to talk about God’s word and our words.

In Mark 7:26-29 Jesus told a woman for this saying go thy way. The devil is gone out of thy daughter.

The words of her mouth were instrumental in her receiving the blessing.

Jesus said in John 14:23 if a man loves me he will keep my words.

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made.

All things were created by the word of God. Is that right?

The word of God has creative power.

We find here that God’s word is as much a part of God as God is a part of his word. God and his word cannot be separated.

God has power to create so does his word.

In Genesis chapter 1 we find God creating by saying.

At least 9 times you will find the phrase, and God said.

You will also find at least 5 times the sentence, and it was so.

I really like that: And God said; and it was so.

There is also another phrase that is repeated: it was good.

God said, it was so, and it was good.

The chapter ends by saying, Behold it was very good.

I said all that to make this point; God can create by his word. God and his word are united.

1. You can lean on God’s word just the same as you can lean on him.

2. You can rest in the promises of God the same as you can rest in the bosom of God.

3. We can act on the written word of God as if he had just spoken it to us.

By that I mean if I need finances I can take Philippians 4:19 into my heart as if the Lord just said it to me.

If I need healing I can take Matthew 8:17 (himself took our infirmities and bare our sickness) into my heart as though God just spoke it.

God’s word has not lost it’s creative power. It is still so. It is still very good.

It is you and I who have lost something.

God said in Isaiah 55:11, So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Jeremiah 1:12. Then said the Lord unto me thou hast well seen; for I will hasten my word to perform it.

To place ourselves in the center of God’s word is to place ourselves in the center of his protection.

When Abraham believed God’s promise for a son, he was launching out by faith into the realm of the impossible. He was taking hold of God’s word for something that was beyond the reach of carnal reasoning.

Can I tell you something?

If you can only believe incurable diseases, aids, accidents where death seems to be the master are all subject to the dominion of the word of God and the name of Jesus.

So why do we fail and suffer want?

Many times we fail or are defeated because we don’t cause our words to match up with God’s words.

The Bible says can 2 walk together except they be agreed.

To always talk failure when God has promised success is the same as speaking unbelief in God’s ability to perform his word.

Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Words and actions should agree.

In the beginning God called things that were not into being and they leaped into existence.

Hebrews 4:12. The word of God is quick and powerful. Alive and full of power.

I just want to tell you today that God’s word has the power to loose you from any prison that Satan has you in.

When Jonah was in the belly of the whale, the Bible says the Lord spoke unto the fish and it vomited out Jonah upon dry land. (Jonah 2:10)

When God spoke that fish had to turn Jonah loose.

In John chapter 11 Lazarus was dead. The tomb had his body. Death had his spirit, but when Jesus spoke, death and the grave had to release Lazarus.

Matthew 8:27 says even the winds and the sea obey him.

Proverbs 4:22 tells us his words are life to all that find them and health to all their flesh.

God’s word is alive and powerful and is sent to heal us and to save us.

Whatever you are facing God’s promises are more powerful than your circumstances.

We must begin to get our words in line with God’s word. We must get into agreement with what God says. Regardless of what reasoning says or what the world says, God’s word will carry us through.

Let me close with this scripture from John chapter 1 verse 14. And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.
