Summary: This sermon explores the fact that everything changes in our lives once we come to truly know God.

Crossing Over

Galatians 4: 1-11

1. There comes a time that we, as believers, receive our full

inheritance (1-7).

A. Under Roman Law a child was not of age until

14.

B. At the age of 14 he was of age but did not inherit

his full rights until 25.

C. Prior to Christ, we were like an underage child,

we had not inherited our full rights.

D. However, at the perfect time, God sent His Son to

redeem us.

E. At the time we receive Christ we receive full

rights as sons.

2. There was a time in your life that you did not know God

(8-11).

A. When this is the case, we serve those things that

are not God at all.

B. For the Jewish people, the lack of a personal

relationship with Christ meant that they observed

special days, months, seasons, and years.

C. These people spent their days longing for a Savior

who would come and free them.

D. What they failed to realize is that Christ had come

and they were free.

3. Some have come to truly know God in their lives (8-11).

A. It is a beautiful thing to know God as “Abba,

Father.”

B. It is incredible to know the freedom that comes in

relationship with Him.

C. However, it would be a very foolish thing to live

my life as if I did not know Him personally thus

entering back into the slavery of trying to please

and impress Him.
