Summary: Some of us give the credit to the wrong source for our deliverance

Do You Know Who Brought You Out?

Scripture Reference: Psalms 30 (KJV)

Psalms 30:1 A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. 6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. 7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. 8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. 9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? 10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. 11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

This is a Psalm and a Song used at the dedication of King David

It was a dedication of David’s temple

As I read this particular Psalm I feel that the temple that the writer had in mind when he wrote this was his body

However, although he wrote it for his body he dedicated it for the building

In (Verse 1 A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.) it is so interesting how the writer acknowledges the fact that his enemies wanted to literally destroy him and rejoice in his destruction.

Many of us are under the attack from our enemies and they literally want to destroy us yet we continue to treat them as if they are just playing with us

We are allowing the sinful and wicked thoughts from Satan to linger around in our minds as if somehow (in the end) Satan will have pity on us and spare our lives.

This is a silly concept, Satan hates you and there is not anything that you can do to change his mind

I was talking to a young Christian the other day and they said that when they deal with someone that doesn’t seem to like them the young christian said that they would simply continue to greet the other person daily. This would be in an effort to change the way the other person feels about them. The young Christian was adamant that if they continued to be nice then eventually the other person would have a change in heart and see it the Christian way. As I write and think about this, with people this could be true. However with Satan you can throw in the towel. He will never like you and he wants to destroy you as quickly and effectively as he can.

We need to be like the writer of this passage and realize that our enemies want to see us dead. Not only that but they want to rejoice over the fact that we are gone

However what’s even better about this verse is that the writer gives all the credit to God for sparing his life

Not weaponry, warriors or tactics but he gives his credit for his victory to God

Who are we giving the credit to for saving our lives?

Our grandparents? Our grandparents may have had a lot to do with developing us into who we are but if we were to ask them what really makes us who we are then they would certainly know better than to try to take a least bit of credit for bringing us out of all of the bondage that we were in and changing us into who and what we are becoming now.

Our parents? If we would ask them then they would surely make honorable mention of who guided them when they found the right path.

Our siblings? We should already know better than this. Though our siblings may inspire us greatly and may have done numerous things to help us develop they must certainly acknowledge that there was a greater force involved if there was ever any progress made.

Teachers, Preachers, Loan Officers, Supervisors, etc. (You make the list)

All of these people could have been instrumental to your success however after all is said and done the single most important factor that saved us was God

So I ask you again!

Do you know who brought you out?

Some of us haven’t been brought out

We are still going through. We haven’t had enough yet. We think that we are getting away with our mess

When we realize for sure that we need to do what the writer of this psalm did in (Verse 2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.)

In (Verse 2) it was made perfectly clear about who he called on for help

He wrote in this Psalms that he called on the Lord

Heal - Get healthy again

The writer said that when he called on God, God healed him

You need to look carefully at this because so many times we think that God needs to deal with our enemies or our situation when in reality the person that God is dealing with is us

God needs to heal us but we are not aware of our sickness so we are not petitioning him for this great blessing

I agree, if everybody saw everything my way then we could all get along better and move forth easily

Do you know who brought you out?

The writer clearly confesses to everyone the truth about who brought him out. (Verse 3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.)

It would be such a great insult for someone to come and help you with every thing that you needed even to save your very life and you never even acknowledge the fact that you had assistance through your trials and tribulations.

Have you ever watched someone who you knew that the only way that ever made it was with the help of God get to a higher level in society, get their dream job, get the spouse they always hoped for, etc. (You make the list). It amuses me how after God blesses us to get all of these things we are so bold as to never really give God any recognition in helping. I have stopped reading many “so called” religious books or books by “so called” religious people when they fail to acknowledge God in their credits.

This has to be a great insult to God

Seeing how He inhabit’s the praises of His people

(Psalms 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.)

In (Verse 4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.). the writer immediately receives and gives recognition to God that he has been blessed by not only singing but inviting all of the saints of God to sing his praise

This verse should really prove to everybody that although the writer was truly blessed to have material goods, in his true essence he was just like most of us. He thought that it was because of what he had materialistically that caused him to get caught out in the wrong way (Verse 6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.). He thought he had enough material goods to ensure that he would always be covered in the event of a rainy day. He thought to himself that it was impossible to fall with all of the wealth that he had gained.

How many times has God delivered me and I never make mention to anyone about it

According to this passage it is good to sing praises unto the Lord

CONCLUSION

Whenever we consider the fact of trying to put a finger on who brought us out we should know that all roads lead to God

In order to bring many of us out, God had to reach down into the pit and pull us up.

There are so many people that see you in a pit and decide to leave you there forever and ever and then they ask within themselves, “I wonder what happened to them?”

Yet they never feel led to check on you and see that you are in dire need of help and offer a helping hand.

I am so glad that God was willing to risk it all just to bring me out

I sometimes wonder what made him decide that I was worth saving

By dealing with me in the state that I was in there was a chance that someone could have seen him helping me and got the wrong idea about God.

He prepared the way by sending his only begotten son to illustrate to me that without a shadow of a doubt this walk could be done

I am so glad that God decided to bring me out

“Who brought you out?” Do you know who brought you out?”

Let’s pray

Thank You. May God continue to bless you and keep you. Amen
