Two Biblical Patterns for Prayers, one for believers and one for unbelievers.

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

We live in such a humanistic society, that it becomes easy for the church to follow after the world. We want to play mind games, we want to rely on psychology, or we want to take an opinion poll and move with popular opinion. Prayer is the tool that moves the

hand of God. We must study and establish an effective, Biblical prayer life. We need to pray for our leaders and fellow Christians, but we must be faithful to pray for those that are not serving the Lord.

What is your purpose? What are you doing about God’s purpose in your daily walk? Sacrifice for sacrifices sake accomplishes little.

We can be so polished in our worship, praise, prayer and service that our work becomes vain and useless, an arm of the flesh?

We must fast and pray and release God’s plan through us.

We must do more than teach and preach spiritual dogmas and pet peeves. We must teach and preach the Word of God and stand firm again sin, rebellion, and the delusions of this world. God is going to judge us!

But there is great mercy still available, let us seek repentance and know the heart and plan of God. Our prayers can do more than we could ever do by our power, prayer releases the heart of God in His

people.

A. A SIMPLE BIBLICAL PRAYER LIFE FOR CHRITIANS AND SPIRITUAL LEADERS HAS 7 POINTS. WE SHOULD FOLLOW THESE FAITHFULLY AND ON A REGULAR BASIS. (see the verses below)

THERE IS A BIBLICAL PATTERN TO PRAY FOR BELIEVERS.

Romans 15: 30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in

your prayers to God for me;

31 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

32 That I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

33 Now the God of peace be with you all, Amen.

Colossians 4:3 WITHAL PRAYING ALSO FOR US, THAT GOD

WOULD OPEN UNTO US A DOOR OF UTTERANCE, to speak the

mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

I. Pray for Unity.

The church’s best work is when there is unity in the family and the believers, where two or three agree together. We are a team: Together Each Accomplishes More. Our enemy will attack our unity and hinder God’s work. We must focus on harmony, oneness in our hearts.

Psalms 133:1 How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

II. Pray for DELIVERANCE

We need God to set us free, and to let this freedom grow. Deliverance suggests giving new life.

III. PRAY FOR ACCEPTANCE OF THE SAINTS

Notice Paul suggests that we pray that saints will accept other saints.

Paul saw the need for agreement and willingness and approval within the body.

In denominations it is easy for one group to be so working that they will not accept others? We must endure without protesting each other.

IV. PRAY FOR A GOD GIVEN JOY

There is a difference in joy and happiness.

The joy of the Lord is our strength, Jesus prayed that our joy may be full.

Christian workers operating without joy are imprisoned and hopeless.

V. PRAY FOR PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL REFRESHMENT

We need God’s spirit to restore and keep us fresh and on alert before the altar. We must learn to feed on what drains our love. We must refresh old works with new works!

VI. PRAY FOR PEACE NOT ONLY FOR JERUSALEM BUT FOR THE

CHURCH AND THE FAMILY

We need our homes and churches to move in tranquillity and quietness.

God help us end hostilities within the body of Christ. We must cease from strife, war, and debate and allow God’s peace full reign in our hearts.

VII. PRAY FOR AN OPEN DOOR

We need God to help us move in the opportunities before us and we need Divine doors to open to release more opportunities.

Why should God give you a second song to sing, if you are not singing your first song?

B. THERE ARE SOME NECCESSARY INGREDITENTS TO A GOOD

PRAYER LIFE FOR SINNERS AND BACKSLIDDERS. LET US

PRACTICE PRAYING THESE BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR SINNERS

AND BACKSLIDDERS.

I. Pray for workers to reach lost people, God pushed Jonah. Puny workers?

Matthew 9:37 Then said He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;

38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.

II. You can not sell what you are not sold on.

Be a personal witness

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

III. Pray that the Word of God will be released to do the work of God.

Satan and the Word is like Superman and Kryptonite

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

And how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD OF GOD.

IV. Pray that sinners’ eyes see Judgement is surely coming.

Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which was first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.

V. Pray for people to get faithful to the House of God.

I Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the House of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the Gospel of God?

Hebrews 10: 25 FORSAKE NOT THE ASSEMBLING TOGETHER

VI. Pray that sinners will know and accept the truth.

John 8: 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth

SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.

VII. Pray that someone will come in their life to guide sinners to the truth.

Acts 8:31 And the Ethtiopian eunuch said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

VIII. Pray the Holy Spirit release His office work and bring Godly Conviction.

John 16:8 And when He is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me.

IX. Pray that nothing hinders.

II Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you.

X. Pray for a cleaned up life and mouth, sanctification.

I Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace be multiplied.

XI. Pray for Deliverance

II Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

XII. Pray for a Godly sorrow

Psalms 34:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

XIII. Pray for the Lights to Come on in the brain and in the heart.

The Light of the Holy Spirit will expose the dirt.

Luke 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

II Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

XIV. Pray for the Victory power of the Holy Spirit to grow.

Acts 19:20 So mightily grew the Word of God and prevailed.

XVI. We ask the Lord to save our loved ones, and develop the conditions conducive to that God homecoming.

Luke 19:10 For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

XVII. Pray for God to bless them and keep them.

Numbers 6: 24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

Romans 2:4 OR DESPISEST THOU THE RICHES OF HIS GOODNESS

AND FORBEARANCE AND LONGSUFFERING; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.

XVIII. Pray for SUSTAINED Revival!

And a manifestation of God’s convicting power.

WE MUST DISCIPLINE OUR PRAYER LIFE TO BE EFFECTIVE AND THESE BIBLICAL IDEAS NEED TO BE INCORPORATED INTO OUR PRAYER SYSTEMS AND PATTERNS.
