Summary: It is very importantt to have faith in God

2nd Corinthians 5:7

Topic- Why is it important to have faith in God.

Your theme for tonight is “We have come this far by faith, trusting, and leaning on the Lord.” And through it all through joy and pain, through sunshine and rain, it was God who brought us(you) through. God has never nor will He ever failed anyone who put their trust in Him for Romans 10:11 says, “Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

In Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” In a nutshell, faith is believing and trusting God at his Word without any questions or doubts.

In Mark 11:22-23 it says, “Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosever shall say unto this mountain, “Be thou removed and be cast into the sea”’ and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith, shall come to pass, and shall have whatsoever he saith.”

In Hebrews 10:38 says, “The just shall live by faith, but if any man draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”

2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” It is a blessing and important that we as Christians to live and walk by faith because in Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God; for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

In Psalm 53, it says that “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” The reson why the fool has said in his heart that there is no God is because there hearts are hard, and will not believe that there is a God unless the see God with their naked eyes. But in John 20:27 says, “Blessed are they that have not seen, but yet believe.

Now why is it important to have faith in God?

1.It is by faith that we are saved by the grace of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are you saved through faith, and not that of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Acts 16:31 says, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved.”

2.It through faith in God that we overcome the world.

I John 5:4-5 says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.

3.When we pray to God we must pray in faith.

James 1: 5-8 says, “if any f you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wravering. For he that wavereth. For he that wavereth(doubts) is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord. A doubleminded man is unstable in all his ways,

Matthew 21:23 says, “And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believeing, ye shall receive.”

4.It is through faith that we have the peace of ,and the peace of God.

Isaiah 26:3 says, Thou wilt keep in him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with od through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

5.It is through faith that we have the joy of the Lord.

I Peter 1:8 says, “And through you have not seen him, you love him, and though you do not see him now,, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with unspeakable joy, and full of glory.”

6.It is by faith that we are justified and not by works.

Galatians 2:16 says, “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

7.It is by faith in Jesus Christ that we are children of God.

John 1:12 says, “But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe on his name.”

Galatians 3:26 says, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Jesus Christ.

8.It is by faith in Jesus Christ that we are made righteous before God.

Romans 10:4 says, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteous to everyone that believeth.”

9.It is by faith that Jesus Christ dwells in our hearts.

Ephesians 3:17 says, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye being rooted and grounded in love.

10.It is by faith in Jesus Christ that you receive the Holy Spirit.

St. John 7:37-39 says, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture has says, “Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters (But this he spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive; for the Holy ghost was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified.).

No one must understand that faith in God does no mean that your life will go smooth and easy, but yet faith in God does make all things possible. There are only a few things that are possible with men, but all things are possible with God when someone put their trust in Him.

You see it wasn’t easy and smooth for Abraham and Sarah, but by faith they both gave birth to a baby boy in their old age with Abraham being 100 years old, and Sarah being 90 years old..

It wasn’t easy and smooth for Joseph who was sold into slavery by his brothers, lied upon by Potiphar’s wife, and thrown in prison, but by faith, he delivered out of prison, and brought to live in the Pharoah’s palace as Pharoah’s right hand man.

It wasn’t easy and smooth for David, but by faith He slew Goliath with just a slingshot, and some small smooth stones, and he was the most successful king of Israel.

It was not easy and smooth for Daniel who thrown into the lion’s den, but by faith, he was delivered from the mouths of the lions

It wasn’t easy and smooth for the three Hebrew boys who was thrown into the fiery furnance, but by faith, the Lord protected them from getting burned up..

Yes, you ought to have faith in Jesus Christ in these difficult times that we live in because

Jesus Christ is my bread when I am hungry

Jesus Christ is my Peace when I am feeling tense

Jesus Christ is my Rest when I am feeling weary
