Summary: When God is called the King of kings what does it mean? It means amongst other things that all His children are kings. You are a king!

YOU ARE A KING

Yes! For as long as you are a child of God, born-again by the washing of your sins through the precious blood of the Lamb, you are a king. Something more happened that day you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour than you know. That day Jesus empowered you to be a king.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to the that believe on his name.” John 1:12

Let me explain this with these logical statements:

The child of a dog is dog

The child of a lion is lion

The child of a cow is cow

Therefore the child of God is a god.

The child of a dog can never be a lion no matter the science that is employed. The best you can have when you cross a lion and dog is lion-dog. The true offspring of any creature will always be that creatures, having the attributes of the same.

The believer is a Son of God and possesses the attribute of God. If we know God to be the King, then the believer too is a king. No wonder then He is called the Kings.

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh, a name written, ‘King of kings, and Lord of lords’.”

Rev. 19:16

Why is God called the King of kings? He is so called because He is a King having many kings (His children who are the believers) ruling and reigning with him. The second reason is because the kings of the earth are all under His authority.

My friend, you are king. You are royal. You are not to be ruled but to rule. You are not to be subjected but to subject. You are not to be exploited but to do exploit. Common! You are more than you think you are. You are a king!

Let this truth be formed in you. As a king you must possess some attributes that will enable your rule:

A. YOUR APPOINTMENT IS DIVINE

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

Romans 13:1

The king is not chosen through mere casting of votes. It is a sacred affair and due consultations are made with the supernatural realm so as to know who the crown fits.

As a matter

of fact, in the cultural

point of view, the

Ancestors must be duly consulted to appoint the right man as king.

The believer’s enthronement also passed through this stage. Due consultations were made to effect your kingship, however, not with the ancestors but the Godhead-God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

“And God said, come now, let US make man in OUR image, after OUR own likeness…” Genesis 1:26

Since the king does not get enthroned through election or balloting, he is not easily removed. In fact, under normal circumstances, if one king does not die, another one cannot be.

What this means is that the believer remains a king for as long as he is alive. And since the believer lives on in Christ, he is an everlasting king. This is why the bible says we shall reign with Christ in His father’s kingdom.

Nobody is capable of dethroning you except yourself. If you decide to abdicate your throne somebody else will occupy it. So, do not abdicate your throne. What would make a king abdicate his throne you may ask? We shall see some of those things in the next section.

FEAR

A fearful king will willingly give up his throne at the slightest threat from the enemies. Fear will always freeze a man but confidence will release him. As a king, you should learn to handle fear. The fearful cannot rule. This is why Romans 8:15 says

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of sound mind II Timothy 1:7

Beloved, fear will always put you in bondage. When the devil comes to put fear in your heart by saying ‘what if’, answer him by saying ‘what if not’. He will definitely know that you know your rights.

The greatest tool the devil uses to make people loose the right they have in God is Fear. It is the number one enemy of success. Fear allows the hedge of protection of God to be broken. It brings shame.

What you need to overcome this enemy is Faith. Fear as defined by my mentor is False Evidence Appearing Real. What you fear may not really hold ground at the end of the day. Faith will always crash every opposition to your desire.

IGNORANCE

Lack of knowledge can also make a king abdicate his throne. You must have proper and adequate knowledge of who you are, who appointed you, what you can do and where your rule extends. When the enemy sees that you are ignorant, he seizes your ignorance to dethrone you.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Hosea 4:6

Remember that the power of the oppressor is in the weakness of the oppressed. People always wait for men in the area of their weakness, to oppress them.

Nobody will try take you up in the area of your strength.

“He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.”

Proverbs 17:27

Knowledge will give you strength. What gives knowledge? Information. You need to gather enough information about your rights as a king. It is what you know that you can do.

The knowledge you have will stir up boldness in you. A bold man will rule in the midst of the toughest opposition. No matter what happens, when you have knowledge, you will remain in your position of kingship.

ERRORS COMMITTED

One other thing that could make a king abdicate his throne is abominations he commits. The throne is a sacred place and should be kept sacred. If for any reason a king commits what is called abomination, such a king might be relieved of the office.

As a king, you should always run away from sin and everything that is abominable. A king does not toy around with things that could defile him.

As a believer-king, you need to know that when you sin, you are defiling the throne. When the throne is defiled, your dethronement is right at hand.

Samson was a man that God highly empowered to rule. He was just doing fine until he started playing with things that could defile him. Little, little things that one may think do no matter may end up marring a man’s privilege as a king. You can read about him from the book of Judges chapters 15-16. Samson was eventually destroyed.

Hear this;

“Take us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines: For our vines have tender grapes.” Songs 2:15

those things you say don’t really matter will destroy the substance of your rights in God.

These are just few of the many things that could move a man away from his throne. Whatever you know is not of God should be diligently avoided.

Conclusively, your appointment as a king remains for as you live and fails to abdicate the throne God has given you.
