OH! THAT WILL BE HEAVEN FOR ME
John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
A. Explain the text:
B. There seems to be a movement to have a religion of the ’HEAR AND NOW" and not to put the emphasis on "THE HEREAFTER" A religion of earth not of heaven.
C. Now don’t get me wrong. The Bible does teach a salvation of the Here and Now. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
This is life of the HERE AND NOW and life of THE HEREAFTER.
D. However, the Bible has a great deal to say about the Hereafter.
Col 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
T/S SO TODAY LET US SPEAK OF HEAVENLY THINGS.
I. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY FATHER. MATT 6:9
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
II. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY VISION. ACTS 26:19
Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
III. WE ARE MADE TO SET IN HEAVENLY PLACES.
EPH. 2:5,6 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved; And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus:
IV. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY HIGH PRIEST.
Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
V. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY CALLING HEB. 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
VI. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY BANK ACCOUNT.
Mat 6:19 -21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
VII. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY HOME. JOHN 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
VIII. WE WILL HAVE A HEAVENLY BODY. 2 COR 5:2
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
IX. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY FAMILY. EPH 3:15
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
X. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY CITIZENSHIP. PHIL. 3:20,21
KJV For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
NRSV But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
XI. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY CHURCH. HEB 12:22
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
