The Call to Pray

1 Timothy 2:1-8

I. Exhortation to pray for all (v. 1; Ephesians 6:18)

a. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

b. Pray in the Spirit (Romans 8:26)

c. Be aware of others’ needs

II. Especially pray for leaders (v. 2; Romans 13:1; Ezra 6:10b)

III. Prayer’s Purposes (v. 3-7)

a. It pleases God (v. 3)

b. To reach lost people (v. 4-7)

i. Salvation’s knowledge (v. 4; John 8:32; Romans 8:2; 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 8:36)

ii. The appointment’s call (v. 7; Ephesians 3:8; 1 Timothy 1:11)
