Summary: Psalm 100 encourages not only to celebrate and worship God for what God has done, but also for who God is.

Psalm 100:1-5 “Celebrate”

INTRODUCTION

The writer of Ecclesiastes observes that there are times to grieve and times to celebrate. Today is a day to celebrate. We have a great deal to celebrate.

• Today is our second anniversary of launching our worship service.

• Hundreds of people have been touched with the gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministries of Desert Streams Church.

• Our worship service is expanding with a new contemporary worship leader, and our X-Stream Kids is expanding.

It is very proper to celebrate the ways that the Lord has blessed Desert Streams Church. These blessings are not the only reasons that we celebrate today. The psalmist who wrote Psalm 100 reminds us that we celebrate not only because of what God has done, but also because of who God is.

THE LORD IS GOD

Focusing on God allows our praise and celebration to be never-ending. God’s character never changes—as the Scripture says, God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We celebrate the greatness of God. The God of our worship is the creator of all.

We celebrate that the God whom we worship is greater than all god rivals. God is the Lord of lords and the King of kings.

God is also a good God. The prophet Jeremiah declares, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God is for us and not against us.

WE ARE HIS

God has chosen us to be his people. Though we may pride ourselves on making a decision to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God’s Spirit was always present nudging us toward a relationship with God.

As God’s chosen people, God provides and protects us.

As God’s chosen people, God offers a personal relationship with us that goes far beyond religious ritual, theological beliefs, or even emotional mountaintops.

STEADFAST LOVE

God’s love for us is steadfast. Unlike our earthly family, God is unwavering in his decision to love us.

Paul boldly declares that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.

God’s love is a life changing love. It is a love that we cannot keep to ourselves; we must share it.

CONCLUSION

Our God is a loving God. What a reason to celebrate!
