• They have been placed in authority by God

• Obedience follows through with action

• Done out of love for God and for parents

• Respecting your parent shows respect to God

"Honor your father and mother." This is the first of the Ten Commandments that ends with a promise.

• Leaves a lasting trail of damage

• Gives a foothold to other issues of the heart

 Loving correction

• Not in anger

• Seeks to improve not harm
