Isaiah 59:19 (KJV)

-According to national studies, 1 out of every 10 teenagers believes in absolute truth.

-Live and you don’t have to listen to the other areas if you do not want to. When you aim at nothing it easy to hit the bulls eye.

-We have got to understand that there has to be a standard that we live by.

Tonight we are going to talk about three things that students need to understand about being a Christian.

1) The students today have seen a flood of the enemy’s attempts to destroy them.

-He has come to Kill, Steal and Destroy everything.

-Life is so much different now we have to deal with so much more, media and everything else.

-The world says that what ever is good for you is what you should do but the Word says that you should not do this because of consequences.

2) We have been called by God to raise the standard of truth in our world.

Isaiah 59:19

-The word “standard” in this verse also translated “banner” and is actually used as a military term. We also find it used in the book of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 50:2

-Jeremiah was used by God to tell Israel to raise up banners as they went to war that proclaimed the prophetic Word of God concerning their enemy’s destruction.

-Are you a thermostat or a thermometer Christian?

-a thermometer adjusts and conforms to the temperature of the world around it.

-a thermostat sets the temperature and lets the world adjust to it.

1 Timothy 4:12

-Definition of “example”: Representative of a bigger group; serves as a model or pattern for imitation or duplication; one who sets the precedent.

3) History has proven that God can use young people to raise the standards in an ungodly world.

Daniel 1:3, 17-20

-Daniel and the three Hebrew children, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, lived at a time when God’s people were held captive by the ungodly Babylonians. The culture said that God was not important and therefore standards aren’t important, but these godly, young people were able to raise the standard in an ungodly world.
