Summary: Are you reflecting the image of God with your image or is the reflective surface contaminated?

Is God’s Reflection in Me?

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NIV

In the “Lion King, the cub lion is looking down into the water and sees his own reflection. He reaches down into the water and causes ripples in the surface. His image is distorted and the picture is not clear and sharp any longer. It is not his true image any longer.

The circus mirrors that make you short and fat or tall and thin is a good example of what a distorted image is.

When you get out of the shower, you can’t see in the mirror because of the steam. You must clean away the layer of moister on the mirror so you can see your image.

When we want a true image, an image that is the exact likeness of the original, there can not be anything in the way that will distort the view, whether it is a ripple in the pond or steam on the mirror.

In the world of high resolution and perfect optics, the surface is as smooth as possible. They use a surface that tolerances are less then 1/10,000 of an inch.

They don’t reflect the image through the glass to the mirror surface; the mirrored surface is on the front side of a perfect surface, (behind/top).

The reflected image does not pass through anything. Passing through even glass will cause the image to be flawed.

There can not be any distortion of any kind; one image must be exactly like the original, pure image.

A professional photographer uses cameras that have lens that are very highly ground so the picture comes out correctly.

I had an eye examine not to long ago and the doctor used this machine that distorted the light rays.

I could see perfectly without the use of corrective lens. It was wonderful to see that way. The only thing wrong with it was the machine cost over $40,000.00 dollars and it was huge in size. I could not take it with me.

Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

He used His own image, not mankind’s image, not the image of a monkey, but His own image to create us.

So when we look at our reflection, we should see God in us. His light should be shining on us, and then reflecting off us.

When Adam and Eve fell from grace they distorted our image. They put their hands in the water and stirred it up. The image they produced was not one of purity.

Their reflection was not of God, but of an image of sin.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18

1. Unveiled Faces reflect:

There is nothing between you and God, a perfect reflection, an exact reproduction of the image of God.

2. Faces that reflect the Lord’s glory:

The sun shines on the moon so it can reflect the sun’s light, so should we with the Lord’s light. We can’t let the world get between us and God, if you do His light will be blocked and you can not see His full image.

3. Transformed back into His Likeness:

The Lord’s sacrifice stills the waters, the ripples goes away, it produces a perfect reflection again.

4. with ever increasing glory:

The sharper the image, the more the blessings increase, and the more blessings you get the more glory that is poured out on you. That is a continual circle of God’s grace.

5. Comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit:

This all comes because of the new covenant that we have with the coming of Jesus and His promises. He has fulfilled all He promised and the Father sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help us to be Holy as He is Holy, to be perfect in His eyes, not our eyes as we can not see perfectly.

We must have the image corrected because we can not see the true image.

With the sacrifice that Jesus made, we have the opportunity to have the surface corrected, our image transformed back into the image of God.

If you look at the sun as being God and the moon as man, you see that we are nothing without His light. His light reflects off us to show His image.

If the world gets between the sun and the moon, you don’t see the moon, or you only see a portion of it.

The reflection of light is contaminated with something that was not supposed to be in the way.

If we allow something to get between the Lord and ourselves, our reflection/image is distorted or blocked and we can not be the reflection of God.

God’s Image is reflected in Gal. 5:22

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfullness, Gentleness & Self-Control.
