Review of last week.

Read John 14:6

We spoke of the half-truths we tend to accept and allow into our lives, whereas, Jesus is calling us to His being the absolute “Truth”.

I want to continue with this by saying that the problem some have with Jesus being the Truth is that it requires for Jesus to be Lord and Master.

Text: Romans 10:9 (NIV)

Prayer:

We know that there are two things to consider when believing on Jesus:

1. Savior – Salvation is not an option

2. Lord – secondary to salvation, but also not an option

Unfortunately, many have taken the teachings of Jesus and separated the two. This has become the greatest heresy of Christianity, and the New Testament Church.

We need to be emphatic about the Truth that Jesus is the only Master, Lord and Ruler of the universe.

The Lordship of Jesus is not an option for anyone. Saint or sinner. “Every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess…”

Many Christians view this to be an option of their faith and relationship with God. But it is not.

The culture we live in has lots of options. People live for options and diversity in this nation. Go to the store and see how many types of salad dressing on the shelf.

We live in a democratic society, but this will only be for a few years. Whereas, our eternity will be ruled and reigned by a dictator. The mention of that word, “dictator” frightens us.

We think of men like Momar Gadaffe’, Fidel Castro, & Sadam Hussein. They are dictators destroy people’s lives with death.

Don’t let this discourage you but there is nothing democratic about serving the Lord Jesus Christ. The difference is we love, honor and worship Him. He doesn’t destroy life, He creates life.

What is interesting is in the Greek, we can define the word Lord in the Bible as, “the final Truth”.

The worst example of a Biblical half-truth is when we speak to someone about getting saved and we leave out the part about Jesus being the Lord of their life.

We cannot soft pedal with the lost and tell them all they need is the Savior. The Bible says they need the Lord as well.

Without Jesus as Lord we will find people who claim to be “born again”, but are drunkards, liers, adulterers, idolaters, etc.

When we choose Jesus we need to understand this Savior and Lord doesn’t come with options for living. The only options anyone has is heaven or hell, eternal life or eternal salvation.

In reality, when we decide that it is Jesus we need for our lives, we forfeit any and all options.
