Jesus

Galatians 4:1-7 – “What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. 2He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. 3So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. 4But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. 6Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.”

Obadiah1:17 – “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”

What are our legitimate possessions in Christ?

• Salvation

• Deliverance

• Healing

• Peace

• Joy

• Prosperity etc

Why then do we lack in these blessings?

Ignorance is our greatest enemy

Hos.4:6 – “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children .”

• Unless you know what God has said in His word concerning you, you would be unable to possess your possession in Christ. The cheapest way for the devil to keep a man in the dark and rob him of God’s blessings is to take away knowledge from him.”

Your oppressor does not need to put chains on your hands and feet, all he has to do is to keep away knowledge from you.

How then can we possess our possession?

Get rid of ignorance; get to know what belongs to you and go for it!

God will only visit you on the basis of His promises that you know.

E.g. Joseph - Gen: 50:24 – “Then Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob."

Gen. 50: 24-25 – “And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. 25And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. Then Joseph said to his brothers,“

Gen.50:24-25 (NIV) - “I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob." 25 And Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath and said, "God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place."

Genesis 21:1 -2 : “And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken 2Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him”

Gen.21:1-2 (NIV) – “Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. 2 Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.”

God’s promises to us

For Salvation

John 3:16-18: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

John 1:12 – “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God “

For Guidance

Isa.30:21 – “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

Psa.48:14 – “For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.”

For Courage

Isa.43:1 – “But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine”Jos.1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

For Provision

Psalm 37:25:26 – “ I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed.”

Joel.2:26 – “You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”

Against Fear

Isa.41:13 – “For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

2 Tim.1:7 – “7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

For Healing

1 Pet.2:24 – “24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed Psa.107:20 – “He sent forth his word and healed them;

he rescued them from the grave “

Fruitfulness

Psa.107:41 – “But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks.” Psa.128:3 – “Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.”

Eternal life

1 Jn.5:11 – “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son Jn.10:27-28 – “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.”

What we need to do?

2 Pet.3:18 – “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”

Every believer who desires to possess his possession must necessarily be acquainted with His promises. If you don’t have His promises, you can not experience His visitation because His promises are the reference points for His acts. They are the anchor for the fulfillment of God’s promises. God will never perform beyond His word.

• Finally, though possessing our possessions draws on divine promises; it is activated through prayers:

E.g. - Jer.29:10-12 – “This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

Dan.9:2-3 - “in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.”

It is your declaration of God’s promises in prayers that enables you possess our possessions

Never assume that God will naturally visit you when the time is accomplished, you have to keep calling upon Him and putting Him in remembrance of His word until it is fulfilled in your life.

This is God’s pattern!

Luke 18:1-8 – “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ’Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ’Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’ “6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

Stand for your right. Contend for the truth, don’t allow the devil to steal from you or rob you of your blessings.

The whole world is under your feet if you have faith in God.

Take a stand for your faith today. Amen.
