If you want God’s favor, don’t treat people with favoritism.

Over 30 years ago, when I was serving on a church staff in the Chicago area, Paul Harvey, the nationally recognized radio personality, attended one of our services. Harvey passed away in 2009 and had a radio show for over 50 years, reaching 26 million people a week. As soon as the service was ...read more

Trials that test us will toughen our faith if we don’t allow temptations to trip us up. Trials from without and temptations from within are no match for the Christian who stands in truth from above.

Persevering Through Trials February 2-3, 2019 James 1:1-18 Rev. Brian Bill A man who filed an insurance claim was asked for additional information from the company. Here’s his response. Brian Bill January 19-20, 2019 It’s probably not appropriate for a Packers fan to bring up the “double doink” field goal missed by Bears kicker Cody Parkey in the closing seconds of their game with the Eagles a couple weeks ago…but I’m going to anyway. ...read more

How to Be a Wise Guy Proverbs 1:1-7 Rev. Brian Bill January 5-6, 2019 The weekend between Christmas and the New Year is often difficult for churches to navigate. God is Love Romans 5:6-8 Rev. Brian Bill August 11-12, 2018 I enjoy hearing what kids say about love. • Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on cologne and they go out and smell each other. • Love is like an avalanche where you have to run for your life. • Love is the most ...read more

In our changing world, we can count on our unchanging God.

Aren’t you glad that God has spoken and that He still speaks through His Word? I’ve been reflecting on a tweet this week: “God didn’t spend 1600 years and use over 40 different authors - most who never met each other - for us to now rely on personal experiences and extra-biblical revelation to ...read more

  • Indescribable And Knowable

Contributed by Brian Bill on Jul 1, 2018

The way we get to know God is by studying His interests and attributes, His character and His characteristics. An attribute is what you “attribute to someone.” Specifically, God’s attributes are those character qualities that uniquely define who He is.

How do you really know what someone is like? You can start by looking at what their interests are. For instance, it would be very easy to conclude that I’m a Packers fan by looking at the sweet swag I’ve accumulated over the years. I received this Green Bay Bobble Head that actually has my ...read more
