About Bruce
  • Education: B.S. Physics/Meteorology, Univ. of Tokyo Japan 1967.
  • Experience: I became an assoc. pastor in 1997, a full time pastor in 1999, and planted our first church in 2001. Since then, we have planted a church in Oklahoma and have started a teaching ministry back in Arizona, in addition to pastoring a couple of other churches.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: God has called each of us to do the same thing, but in different ways. I was not called to teach to those who are already highly educated in the Word, but to those who have little or no understanding of the Word - those who need Jesus in their hearts.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: I saw Billy Graham in Tokyo in the 1960's and that turned out to be a very important spiritual marker in my life.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: We are like the ducks in Duckville, USA. We line up single-file every Sunday morning and waddle all the way down the street, one behind the other, to go to church. In church, we get excited by what we hear, and flap our wings and peck our beaks. And after church, we tend to go outside, line up one behind the other, and waddle all the way back home just like we came to church a couple hours earlier . . . unaffected and unchanged by what we heard - all to do it again next week.
  • Family: I have one son and one daughter, both adults and both profess Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives. I am very proud of them. I have 5 grandchildren. My wife is an excellent teacher of Scriptures.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: When I get to heaven, I shall find out.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is my second main source of strength as I pursue hard after Jesus. (Jesus is my first .... Phil. 4:13)
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Pray before, during, and after for guidance from the Holy Spirit.
  • Books that have had an impact: Of course, the Bible is the #1 impact in my life.
  • Hobbies: My family is my highest earthly focus. I like to do oil paintings, build model cars, and I enjoy reading and doing web graphics.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus loves you with a love that is so great that we cannot comprehend. And through that love for us, we are offered all of the glory of God. But we must go through Jesus to get it. There is no other way. If we want what He wants to give, we must do it His way and not our own.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: As a new preacher, I was a guest speaker at a church that expressed itself through yelling, rolling on the floor, barking, etc. (Not saying that is wrong ... just different from anything I had experienced before.) I was flustered as the congregation continually yelled out praises during my sermon. At closing prayer, I meant to say, "Bless us until we come back for the next service ..." but what I said in my broken concentration was ... "Bless us until we come back for the next circus."
  • What I want on my tombstone: I am most thankful that Jesus loved me so much, He was willing to wait on me until I loved Him back.

  • A Study On The Rapture

    Contributed on Oct 26, 2015
    based on 7 ratings

Discusses the Rapture, why some believe in it while others do not, and gives Scripture to support it.

As Christians and believers in Christ, we know what the overall plan is: To talk with Jesus so we can go to heaven when we die. But there is a lot more information squeezed into that plan that we might be fully aware of. During our lifetimes in church, we have all heard many sermons, but since more

  • A Sanctuary Dediction

    Contributed on Oct 25, 2015
    based on 4 ratings

We dedicated our newly remodeled sanctuary back to the Lord.

Good morning, and welcome to God's house this morning! It is always a pleasure to see each of you on Sunday mornings. Our prayer is that, as you sit here, you will begin to feel an upswelling of God's Spirit working in you to bring you closer to Jesus Christ than you have ever been more

  • Which Book Talks About Jesus?

    Contributed on Oct 21, 2015
    based on 5 ratings

This message covers every book of the bible, and shows how each one of them reference Jesus Christ. The title is a question. The answer would be .... "all of them."

We are American Christians who believe in the Holy Bible, and as such, we recognize that the one thing that runs all the way through our Bible, like a ribbon tying it all together, is Jesus Christ. And "Christ" is not His last name: It is His title. And if we knew everything that title more

  • Which Bridge Is Safe?

    Contributed on Apr 8, 2015
    based on 4 ratings

Using the analogy of a bridge crossing a chasm, we discuss that even though there seems to be many bridges available, only one really leads to the other side and we must be careful when deciding which bridge.

When you are planning a trip, how good are you at determining which way to get there? Do you just take a guess at which roads to take, or do you actually get a map out and plan your trip? Of course, smart money is always on the one who plans the trip, but I think we would be shocked to find out more

  • The State Of Our Church

    Contributed on Mar 31, 2015
    based on 4 ratings

Our annual End of the Fiscal Year necessitates assessing where our church is and what we should be focusing on in the next year. Your congregation should hear something like this from you, too.

I truly thank God for His allowing me to pastor a congregation like you. It is my distinct pleasure to serve you as you serve the Lord. We are in a small “bedroom” community that serves the two larger cities. A bedroom community is one where people choose to live even though more

THE NEW GUY We all need real hope. There were four ladies in a nursing home one time that were sitting there talking, and the nurse brings in a new man to the facility. He was quite dapper for an older man, and one of the ladies asked him where he had been for so long. He responded by more

  • Mark Of The Beast

    Contributed on Oct 9, 2012

In verse 15, it tells us what will happen to those people who do not accept the Evil One’s mark: “15 … and all who refuse to worship the image or take his mark will be killed.” I saw recently where Motorola has developed an all inclusive data chip that is no larger than a grain of rice. It more

  • The Savior And The Judge

    Contributed on Sep 6, 2012

THE SAVIOR AND THE JUDGE I heard a story that took place in a western town in the late 1800's. It told of a horse that was spooked and then bolted, running away uncontrollably with a small boy in the bed of the wagon. Seeing the child was in grave danger, a young man risked his life to catch more

  • Victor, Not The Victim

    Contributed on May 24, 2011
    based on 1 rating

VICTOR, NOT THE VICTIM I used to work for the Post Office and when I became serious about the Lord, it must have really shown in my actions and words, because people all of a sudden began making fun of me and giving me snide comments. At times it was difficult, but I remained steadfast in my more
