  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: The greatest blessing of my life is that God called me to preach. I am never so sublimely happy as when I’m preaching God’s Word. It’s just such an honor to think that the Lord of the Word would entrust it to me, to serve it up to others for the Holy Spirit to use. So I hope there are some here that help you or that you preachers can use in your study. When I leave this world if I am only remembered for one thing I want it to be for accurately preaching the Word of Truth.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The eagle and the rodent on the floating ice, from "Deadly Morsels". Find it at
  • Family: Wife: Lynnea (my queen, who is also a Medical Technologist ), Charlene, Briana, Caleb, Brittany, Jacquelynn, Nicole
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: When something strikes home, she mentions it. Otherwise she’s careful not to ’puff me up’. When it’s ’foggy’ she let’s me know. She’s the greatest wife & friend ever.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: From Haddon Robinson’s "Biblical Preaching" : "A mist in the pulpit becomes a fog in the pew" "Make sure your train of thought has a caboose" - unknown
  • Books that have had an impact: "The Doctrines of Grace", - JM Boice The Holiest of All - Murray, Mere Christianity - Lewis,(anything by C.S. Lewis) That Incredible Christian - Tozer, Robinson Crusoe - DeFoe (check it out!), anything by C.H. Mackintosh, Spurgeon’s "Lectures to My Students", Yancy’s "What’s So Amazing About Grace", "Classic Christianity" by Bob George anything by S.R. Lawhead - especially 'Byzantium'
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: If I knew it was my last time, I would read aloud, Romans 1-8 and let God’s Word do God’s work
  • What I want on my tombstone: pepperoni (you expected something spiritual?)
