• Education: I have no formal education in the Scriptures. I have spent much time in personal study and memory work, while also reading and listening to sermons from many outstanding preachers. I have been studying Greek for about 2 years now. After high school I attended Transylvania University and Shawnee State University, studying accounting, but I did not finish with my degree.
• Experience: I preached my first sermon when I was 16 years old, then it took me nearly 6 years to work up the courage to do it again. I moved to Jackson, OH and started looking for a church to attend. It just so happened that the church there was in need of some preaching help. I stayed there from late 2011 to July 2013 when I moved back home to Kentucky. I started on July 28, 2013 at Allen Chapel Church of Christ and I am currently serving there as evangelist.
• One of my favorite illustrations: Boiling a frog is no different than denominationalism creeping its way into an individual's life or into a congregation. Satan will not work in obvious ways, but he'll turn up the heat gradually until Christians are boiling in a pot of false teaching. This is why we must also study to show ourselves approved and rightly divide the Word.
• Family: My wife, Stephanie, and I have been married since March 24, 2010. We have no children yet. When I was very young, my family went to a New Year party at our church and while each person prayed through the new year in our prayer circle, my dad prayed that God would use him in any way He saw fit. Not long after that, my dad began preaching. Without that prayer, I may have never started preaching myself.
• Best advice given to me about preaching: Don't preach until midnight or you'll risk killing someone.
• Books that have had an impact: The Bible
• Hobbies: I love to travel the backroads anywhere I go. I also like baseball and golfing.
• If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation.
• Something funny that happened while preaching: I was preaching an evening service and said, "Open your Bibles this morning..." The funny thing about this is I made light of the situation that I had just messed up, and then turned right around and said it again. Before the sermon was over I said it a total of 4 times. On another occasion I preached from a totally diferrent passage of scripture than what I told the audience. I heard a lot of page turning that night.
