About Dennis
  • Education: I have an Associate Degree in computer technology, and am an ordained minister in the Upper South Carolina Conference of Pentecostal Holiness Churches.
  • Experience: Every minister and servant opf God should have the opportunity to minister to and spend time in a homeless mission. If you have never seen the look of dispair and no hope on the face of an individual try visiting your local homeless mission. God ’s word is so true in Matthew 9:37 Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. I thank God that He has given me this opportuntity to serve Him in this capacity.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The Prodigal Son and the Eight Spiritual Blessings by Dr. David Jeremiah.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The Master Refiner Malachi 3:3 "And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver..." This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that’s easy - when I see the reflection of image in it."
  • Family: God has blessed me with three wonderful children, a delightful daughter-in-law, and three precious grandchildren. My youngest son who was 14 at the time was the one that God sent to lead me to Christ. He sent me a son to lead me to The Son. My youngest son son is now a police officer, my oldest son is serving our country in the US Air Force, and my daughter is a mother and has given me a precious grandson.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Both of my parents are deceased and never knew that I entered the ministry.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Don’t ever stop. Keep teaching the word of God wherever you go.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Holy Bible.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: You have heard many people say, "Nobody is promised tomorrow". We need to live like there is a tomorrow because I can assure you there will be a tomorrow. Where you spend it is entirely up to you. Jesus said in John 14:1-4 "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 "In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4 "And you know the way where I am going."
  • What I want on my tombstone: He preached the gospel daily; when necessary he used words.
