About Engleburg
  • Education: 2021 Regent University Bachelors of Arts Theology and Biblical Studies
  • Experience: 8 years Youth Ministries (Pathfinder Director and Deputy Director) 8 years as a local elder and/or assistant pastor 17 years serving as a lay pastor
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I love you and want you to meet us (Jesus and the saints) in the air when He shall return.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: "The Other Chair," by Charles D. Brooks "Five Laws," by E. E. Cleveland "The Three Judgements," by E. E. Cleveland "The Deluge," by Engleburg Toney
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The comparison of progressing in the Christian faith to the invention of the light bulb is my favorite illustration. Thomas Edison developed his bulb from nine previous patents to perfect his model, and after he invented his light bulb the other 9 inventors did not say that they weren’t going to use his version of the bulb but would try to continue working on theirs. Such is it with faith, when light reveals more of God’s will to us, we shouldn’t say I like the light that He gave to me initially
  • Family: One wife, Delvery "Boobaluv" Toney, son, Elijah (God’s Messenger) David Toney, one pet, English Mastiff dog named Othniel (God’s Lion).
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My father thinks they are very educational, spiritual, and "meaty."
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She believes the messages are direct inspirations from God when I apply myself to proper sermon preparation.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Pastor C. E. Cunningham told me when I first starting preaching on a regular basis not to apologize in the message for misquoting a text or because I felt like I was preaching too long.
  • Books that have had an impact: The National Sunday Law by Jan Marcusen The Great Controversy, by Ellen G. White The Desire of Ages, by Ellen G. White Steps to Christ, by Ellen G. White
  • Hobbies: I like to collect football paraphernalia especially Electric Football models. I also like to read and/or study about any ancient history related to the Bible.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I would asked the Christian world, How long are they between two opinions? Follow Jesus and keep the Sabbath holy!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Well maybe not while I was preaching, but I recall an incident where after the service I was standing at the door to shake the members hands, a sister walked up to me and said to me in a very raspy voice that "You preached too long...I have kids!" I was shocked because it was Youth Day and I only preached 45 minutes.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He’s not here-He’s been translated!

Kevin "the Godfather" Samuels, revived the idea and coined the phrase of the High-Value Man. He formulated six principles that create the High-Value Man, but Christ has given us six principles to make us High-Value Saints. We find these principles in the parable of the Hidden Treasure.

Three months ago, the world of social media lost an icon. Kevin "the Godfather" Samuels, YouTuber, image consultant, life-coach, dating expert and influencer, died on May 5, 2022. Rolling Stone magazine reported that Samuels had amassed 1.4 million subscribers on his YouTube channel ...read more

TGIF, "Thank God It's Friday," what makes Fridays unique and special? What Christ did for us on the day before the Sabbath continues even today!

54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. Luke 23:54 Friday is the end of the work week. It signals the coming weekend. It is usually payday and plans are made for recreational activities on the weekend. Friday is the sixth day of the week, and the day that God created beasts ...read more

  • A Picture Of Home

I know that when I have been away from home for a while, I get “homesick.” Jesus wants us to think about home. He wants us to have Heaven on our minds.

"If you read history you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this one" (Mere Christianity). For ...read more

Our Father abhors our sin but is drawn by our brokenness. He alone is the reader of our hearts to which in return we receive His mercy and grace!

Time For Tears It is indeed a blessing to be in the house of the Lord on the last Sabbath of 2017. Call it what you will, tradition, custom, reflection, but at each and every year’s end, I do some soul searching. I grade my life as I lived it in the passing year, and I have to tell you if I had ...read more

  • Moonstruck Lunatic And Members

Whether the boy was a lunatic or suffered from epilepsy is not really the issue. Fact of the matter is the Church suffered from a seizure of unbelief that cripples the ministry of Christ.

Before we talk about our text this evening we need to first ask ourselves do we truly, honestly, sincerely, want to see our Lord’s return. I ask because the Bible gives us four things that must occur before the Second Coming of Christ and they are all within our scope of responsibility and are ...read more

PANTS ON THE GROUND I believe the General, Larry Platt, was right. We are talking about something as simple as "Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, looking like a fool with yo' pants on the ground, with the gold in yo' mouth, hat turned sideways, pants hit da ground, call ...read more

Dr. Martin Luther King penned in his book The Strength of Love, "The church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture ...read more
