About Eric
  • Education: Associates degree in Commercial Art. Pursuing bachelors in graphic design. Have been a professional Graphic Designer for 26 years.
  • Experience: Have taught teens for 28 years through Sunday School with a central focus on discipleship.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I hope these help you in sharing the message to your audience. I spend a lot of time developing them, because they are messages God has given to me, specifically for me. Use them if you need them.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Wasn’t really a sermon that woke me up as a teen, but the movie "A Thief In The Night" made me question my walk with Christ. It was only then, that I truly asked to know Him rather than know about Him.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: New Pair Of Eyes There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, “If I could only see the world, I would marry you.” One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?” The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: “Take good care of your eyes, my dear, because before they were yours, they were mine.”
  • Family: I have a wonderful wife named Kecia, and two beautiful daughters, Halie age 19 and Laryn age 14. Kecia is a high school teacher in our hometown. Halie is attending a local university and majoring in biology. Laryn will be in high school and involved with the band.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They love them. Not that I’m good at delivering them, but they do like the content.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She’s my best critic. She usually lets me know if I got to the point or ended up down some path that no one knew of.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: When giving a message, imagine you’re taking someone to a destination, a meeting point. Remember, that they are on that trip with you and you need to let them see what you see -- similar as if they are in a car with you. Stick to the road, and if you do take a shortcut, make sure it’s not a dead end. This will ensure that you both will end up at the same destination.
  • Hobbies: web maintenance, movies, teaching the Word, working out at the gym.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: God doesn’t give out perfect attendance certificates just for showing up to church. He wants your heart on a 24/7 basis.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Nothing yet, thank God! Oh, I did hear a someone wake themselves up with a loud snore during the message. I had to hold a laugh back, because I knew they were embarrassed.
  • What I want on my tombstone: A Loving Husband and Father - Dedicated to Serving Christ
